And So Bassem Went To The Prosecutor General Office Today ...

Posted on 11:14 by Unknown
And so Bassem Youssef went to the Prosecutor general office today in a big media presence and bigger supporters presence.
TV channels aired his entrance surrounded by fans , producer and guards. It was another show in downtown Cairo , expected when you think about it.
Bassem among his fans and cameras today
The fans brought to him that big hat like the one Morsi wore in Pakistan when he got the honorary PhD in Philosophy and Bassem wore it making fun from the president whom he is accused of insulting.
The big silly hat outside
Things even got interesting when people found out MB leading provoking figure Sobhy Saleh there claiming that he was sent by the brotherhood to defend Bassem in order to prove that the MB is not against media !! It was a cheap move and of course it will be used by the MB PR machine abroad. Predictably Bassem refused that legal help. Montasser El Zeyat the famous Islamist lawyer also went and announced that he was ready to defend Bassem and he did attend the interrogation.
In the interrogation Bassem denied that he was insulting the president or religion.
In the end after several hours he was released on bail in three cases. He paid  LE 15,000.The fourth case's interrogation has been determined when exactly yet.

Now interestingly he was tweeting about what was happening inside the prosecutor general office in a hilarious way but he had to stop and delete the tweets. Unfortunately I did not take snap shots but others did like Al Masry Al Youm.
The deleted tweets from Al Masry Al Youm
The deleted tweets in sequence
  • The officers and the lawyers of the prosecutor general's office wanted to take photos with me , is this why I was summoned ?
  •  They are looking for a laptop with Codex App to show the episodes but they did not find
  •  They brought to us Rani orange juice ?
  • When they were taking the description of my features , they said "thin and medium tall" then they asked me about the color of my eyes !!!
Later Bassem Youssef said on twitter that there were pages on Facebook transferring false news about his interrogation.
للأسف هناك بعض الصفحات التي تكتب أشياء من داخل التحقيق و كلها غير صحيحة. برجاء عدم نشر أخبار خاطئة
— Dr Bassem Youssef (@DrBassemYoussef) March 31, 2013
Al Masry Al Youm reported that the famous Satirist had to delete his tweets by the request of the prosecutor office.

For God sake I read his tweets and it was not wise thing to do in the first place especially he exposed their failure to have Codex app on the laptop in order to show the episodes and how when he arrived. He should not have denied that they were his tweets , he should have deleted them quietly.
Another thing , I could not believe on how news websites dedicated whole pages for every single tweet the man typed in his account. It was really crazy.
Tarek Qazzaz, the CEO of QSoft , the producer of the show is summoned to the prosecutor general's office next Sunday.
Stand up comedian Ali Quandil  is also summoned to the prosecutor general's office next Wednesday . Quandil was a guest in episode 14 and he is accused of insulting Islam. Quandil criticized the performance of Sheikhs in Friday prayer. As soon as it was known that he is summoned to the prosecutor general's office, his segment in the show on Youtube hit the ceiling. Here is Quadil's segment.
Now according from what I understood the episodes causing all those problems are episodes 12,14 and 15.
Here are the episodes

Episode "12"

Episode "14"

Episode "15"

I will leave the judgement to you.

“Jews of Egypt” in Cinemas now

Posted on 05:37 by Unknown

This is a belated post but “Jews of Egypt” is now in cinemas. Oh Yes it got the approval from the Homeland security , it seems that the noise was good after all. The Homeland security had stopped its screening at first despite it got an approval from the ministry of culture.

“Jews of Egypt” is now screened in three cinemas “Renaissance Cinemas” in Nile City, Sun City and San Stefano malls” in Cairo and in Alexandria.

Several friends went and they think the documentary is really interesting and important. By the way this is the second documentary to be screened commercially in Egypt and I believe this experience means we got a growing market for documentaries. Of course cinemas owners are still not encouraged but may be if there is enough media exposure and people show interest “especially the young viewers”

By the way Amir Ramsis and his film are now being accused by Pan Arab media like Al Quds El Arabi newspaper of promoting for the neutralization with Israel. Well it is not about neutralization but rather to put the spot light on some of our dark unknown history.

#FreeMahienour : Returning to the old bad days "Updated"

Posted on 13:46 by Unknown
Updated :
Mahienour and her comrades have been released without a bail in Alexandria. :)
Yesterday clashes erupted in Alexandria between protesters and security forces. As usual some of the protesters have been arrested and among them the famous Alexandrian activist Mahienour El Masry.
Mahienour El Masry is from the most famous women activists in Egypt. She is not media type activist but rather street type activist helping people since the days of Mubarak. Mahienour used to protest defending the rights of Islamists and Muslim brotherhood. she was there stand in early January 2011 defending the rights of Siyad Belal when the famous Sheikhs of Salafism were too cowards to disobey the orders of state security.
Here is Mahienour speaking as one of the Egyptian revolution’s women. It is translated video by the way.

I was happy to meet Mahienour in person last year.
Mahienour is accused of inciting violence and setting the MB HQ on fire despite she is totally against the use of setting HQs on fire.
Mahienour
Human rights activist Hossam Bahgat revealed that Mahienour was receiving threats from Alexandria’s head of police investigation department in Alexandria warning her if she does not stop her political activity , she would be arrested.
مدير مباحث اسكندرية بقاله شهرين وزيادة بيبعت لماهينور المصري تهديدات انه هيقبض عليها لو ما اتلمتش
— hossam bahgat (@hossambahgat) March 30, 2013
There is a huge campaign again protesters and activists to the level that you can not keep it up. It is so depressing as if we are returning to the old Mubarak’s days.
It is really depressing.

Breaking : Talaat Abdullah issues an arrest warrant for Bassem Youssef !!

Posted on 05:40 by Unknown
This is unbelievable !!
Talaat Abdullah, the appointed prosecutor general “who is currently in legal limbo” has issued an arrest Bassem Youssef , oh yes  for Bassem Youssef.
warrant for
TV host Bassem Youssef is officially accused of insulting both the President and Islam !!!
Accordingly 14 citizens filed a complaint against Youssef accusing him of insulting president Morsi and affecting his image internationally !! Youssef is also accused of mocking and insulting Islam by making fun from praying “!!” and Islamic Scholars !! Among those 14 model citizens you will find the name of lawyer Ashraf Nagi, a member of the Pro- MB “Lawyers of Egypt Union”
I do not know if this complaint is the one presented against Bassem last December.
Bassem commented with that short tweet that I can not translate in English because it will lose its meaning. In nutshell he is making fun from the arrest warrant.
شقط و إحضار :)
— Dr Bassem Youssef (@DrBassemYoussef) March 30, 2013
This is new escalation after the arrest warrants issued for the activists.

Updated :

  4. Insulting the president and his family
  5. Saying explicit sexual words that harm the Egyptian family publicly !! "The TV show is +18 "

After #Jordan and #Gulf , Syrian brides mania reaches to #Egypt

Posted on 16:30 by Unknown
The disgusting phenomena spread in the Arab countries like Jordan and the Gulf reached to Egypt and poor Syrian women are being abused and offered for marriage for those interested in taking advantage of these ladies.
Yes sadly enough it reached in Egypt. In a press statement issued by the National Council of Women on Thursday that it sent two letters to the ministers of interior and justice in Egypt demanding them to stop the marriages of Egyptian men from Syrian women refugees taking advantage from their suffering. The statement of NCW says that Women NGO in Europe called “The international federation of Women” presented a memo to president Morsi regarding this matter. According to this matter not less than 12,000 of marriage cases between Syrian women and Egyptian men in one year only. The memo also spoke about these marriages are spreading in Cairo “New Cairo and 10th of Ramadan Cities” , Giza “October” , Alexandria , Gharbia , Mansoura and Qena.
Professionally speaking the statement did not mention the source of that number “12,000” and whether we are speaking about an official registration number. There should be more investigation regarding the number.
We began to hear more about this sad thing in Egypt officially in January 2013 when the NCW began to react to the reports regarding how some NGOs use the Syrian women and girls’ need and force them in marriage in the most disgusting way.
In the same month the National Council for women in Egypt launched a hotline for Syrian women to receive their complaints if they are forced in to marriages. The initiative is good but I highly doubt that the Syrian women in need and are forced in to marriage will know about this hotline at all !! Unfortunately I did not follow up this topic because as you know since last 25 January 2013 we are having our struggle in Egypt’s political arena.
Of course not all these marriages are forced , underage where Egyptian men are using Syrian women’s needs for stability. Some of these marriages are actually not officially registered as Egyptian men use the ignorance of Syrians with our laws which means there are no rights for these girls. The dowry of these marriages can go as low as LE 500 and in best times up to LE 3000 but without any further rights or anything. The marriage in some cases do not continue for some long and the Syrian bride finds herself the third or the fourth wife for pleasure with no rights at all.
Unfortunately due to poverty and suffering some Syrian families accept that sot of marriage.
What is more shocking is that you find that some of those NGOs “Islamist” helping the Syrian refugees and families in Egypt are organizing these marriages or rather auctions. For months I have heard rumors and claim as well about certain famous mosques and Islamist NGOs in October and Nasr City. I will not mention here names without proof but I have heard sick stories for real.
The Islamist NGOs are not involved only but if you dig a little deeper you will find Salafists and Salafist parties like El Fadila allegedly appearing in your face. Of course when you speak to them officially they will deny doing this. Not to mention you got these so-called “marriage companies”  claiming to have Syrian brides besides their wide selection of religious committed girls, widows and divorced brides !!!!!
Ironically earlier today someone on Facebook from Damanhur shared a flyer he got during the Friday mosque from a “marriage company” announcing the availability of Syrian brides besides Veiled brides. " I hided the telephone numbers and address"
"Smile company" for Marriage !!
Last week already a friend of mine found an ad in the Yellow pages about another marriage company announcing the “Syrian brides are wanted for businessmen and engineers on the condition that they are not older than 30 years !!”.{Thanks to dear Loai Nagati who noticed this ad and spoke about it online}
I removed the name of the company and its telephone
What is more sick you hear details about catalogues for girls and women for small subscription. I am ashamed of these men and those people to be honest. I am ashamed and angry.
Of course the Salafists and Islamists in general believe that they are protecting their poor sisters including widows who can not work in foreign country in very corrupted times..etc.  It is just disgusting. Already I wonder why they did not care about their sisters in Darfur or Mali or Burma or Somalia or they only care for light skinned sisters !!
I apologize on behalf of millions of Egyptians disapprove this act, yes there are millions who refuse these actions in Egypt

Torture in the house of God !!

Posted on 06:40 by Unknown
Now I wonder what the prosecution office will do concerning this disturbing accusation supported by testimonies and hard evidence.
The Muslim brotherhood is accused of torturing other Egyptian citizens in the house of God , in Belal Ibn Rabah Mosque in Mokattam during the clashes last Friday. Here is a video made by Mosireen translated to English “I think it is working now on the blog” showing the victims speaking on what happened to them.
Those who were tortured there were mainly from the earthquake houses area near Mokattam. The earthquake houses area is a lower working class area. The victims were Muslims and Christians from the people there. Of course the MB is insisting that they are hired thugs based on how they look and so on ignoring the facts that we are dealing with an area surrounded by Cairo’s infamous slums and shanty towns suffering from extreme poverty.
The MB does not want to recognize that the next wave in the revolution will be the hunger uprising from these areas who are fed from the castles in the air. For years actually observers and analysts during the Mubarak era expected that the revolution in Egypt would be a hunger one and not a political middle class one like 25 January revolution for God sake.
Here is another testimony from Ramy El Kholy about the torture inside the complex that he witnessed himself at the ceremonies hall last Friday
El Kholy said that he witnessed not less than 15 men in their underwear being tortured and whipped to the level that most of them are unconscious.

Ahmed Ragab, the journalist also wrote a very sad unbiased testimony and how he and other journalists witnessed extreme violence and brutality against the protesters at the mosque.
Both El Kholy and Ragab recorded in their testimonies what they witnessed fairly and before you speak they mentioned the violations and inhuman beating from the protesters' side too.
If you do not want to believe those people because they look thugs in your eyes then I urge you to red what the administration of Belal Ibn Rabah Mosque and Community service complex said in its statement. This statement was published from couple of days ago. You can see it after the break.

The administration board of Belal Ibn Rabah announces its full denouncement to what happened on Friday “22/3/2013” inside the mosque’s hall and the ceremonies hall after they were stormed by groups affiliated to religious trends “Islamists” after the Friday prayers and their complete control on the mosque and its facilities.
Belal Ibn Rabah community center was founded by the residents of Mokattam and their complete support to the center is the reason of its success. It is not funded by any party or group.
Thus we are very sorry to the people of Mokattam for what happened despite we did not lost control on that day thanks to the use of violence.
The administration announces its rejection and denouncement for the actions of violence and thuggery as well using mosques in the political conflicts.
The administration has filed a report about happened in Mokattam Police station and the report no. is “2787” on 23/3/2013 and it has been referred to the prosecution office on 25/3/2012
Now according to the administration of the community center and Mosque after the Friday prayer flocks of the MB members from other governorates occupied the mosque and took control of the whole complex.
The complex found itself under fire when the families of the tortured from the popular areas came angrily demanding an explanation. It was worth to mention that the complex and the mosque are regarded from the five star mosque where TV preachers go and give lessons and so on.
The MB is claiming to have high morals and that the protesters were the bad guys in last Friday’s clashes. Well I have got bad news to the MB , both the MB members and the protesters were the bad guys. I do not know how they justify the use of House of God in such thing. This is another sign of their downfall. Yes downfall because when I read history , I think how the downfall of mighty groups claiming righteousness start.
By the way the MB members detained in the Mosque  at El Nafoora square were not touched till they were released by the security forces. In fact according to Nawara Negm a Egyptian Christian protester urged the other protesters to leave those MB members in the mosque and not to touch them because this is the house of God.

No wonder how police treats people so bad in #Egypt

Posted on 15:40 by Unknown
These horrifying images were posted today in a Facebook Page from Suez that covers the governorate’s news and events.
Executing dogs in Suez
Police and the Veterinary department in Suez started a campaign to get rid from stray dogs in some area. As you can see they executed the dogs in this inhuman way “Shooting them” and piled them in some truck thinking that it is a big achievement.
First of all what kind of veterinary department is that in Suez that does not know the merciful methods to execute wild sick animals like that !??
Second of all no wonder police treats people like that when the policemen do not have any feelings towards God’s creature.
Third here is an official fatwa from 2003 prohibiting the torture of animals and executing them cruelly but rather to use merciful and scientific modern methods.

The copy of the fatwa
The fatwa uses an example from Prophet Mohamed “PBUH” Life and how the prophet saw a donkey with tortured by someone and told his companions that whoever tortured that animal will be cursed. “You do not torture it or you hit it” Prophet Mohamed “PBUH”
That fatwa shared by animals rights activists Dina Zulfikar on Facebook was signed by Sheikh Mohamed Abbas and late Sheikh Emad Effat. {May Allah bless his soul} “Yes the Emad Effat , you can not imagine how I felt when I found his name on that fatwa”
Do you know you that annually the Egyptian government spends more than LE 30 million to get rid from the stray dogs through poison and birdshots !? Do you know that they are ignoring an economic solution that will save a lot of money which is animal sterilization !?
This is not luxury , this is basic thing for real.

Vote For #Heba and #Malala in #Time Poll

Posted on 14:45 by Unknown

The Time 2013 Poll is here and it is time to choose the Time 100 List. Now I here are my recommendations.

Go and vote for Malala Yousafzi and Heba  Morayef , especially for Heba Morayef. Now all of you or most of you have heard about Malala but I think  you have not heard about Heba Morayef as you should. Heba is the Human rights watch’s Egypt Director. She has been from the famous faces in the Egyptian revolution.

You can see her speaking to Reuters about the Role of women in the Egyptian revolution.

Heba speaks about the role of Egyptian women in the revolution

Heba’s next battle or actually current battle now is the new NGOs law supported by the FJP.

By the way Mohamed Morsi is also nominated in the list. I know that the MB will organize an attack on this page to support him like last year !!

And @Alaa goes to Criminal Court Either ways !!!

Posted on 03:18 by Unknown
It seems that the prosecutor general is insisting to refer Alaa Abdel Fatah to the criminal court after all. Today we were surprised to find that Alaa Abdel Fatah and another 12 activists including his sister Mona Seif are referred to criminal court for attacking Ahmed Shafik's headquarter in Dokki in May 2012. Do You remember this case !???
By the way I slept early last night especially internet speed was killing me and I did not know about this except when I woke up
Ironically since early morning Shafik campaign and its members above them its former spokesperson Ahmed Serhan are saying that they withdrew their complaint and accusation against the activists since May 2012 before the elections !!
@sandmonkey @karimakhalil @daliaezzat_ تم التنازل في حينه بمعرفة مكتب المستشار القانوني يحى قدري في محضر امام قسم الدقي ونيابة الدقي
— Ahmad Sarhan (@Sarhan_) March 28, 2013
Ahmed Serhan : Our Legal Consultant Yahia Kadry withdrew our complaint and accusation in front an official report at Dokki police station and Dokki prosecution Here is a video from Shafik's campaign during then where the former presidential candidate declared that he withdrew his complaint and accusation to the activists.

In fact here is Shafik himself speaking about the matter
Ahmed Shafik : We will not be a tool to hit back the Egyptian rebels , I will not allow the Muslim brotherhood to use my name in their fight with youth making up cases from complaints I have already withdrew
Ahmed Shafik : I was surprised to find activists Alaa Abdel Fatah and Mona Seif are referred to criminal court for torching my campaign HQ despite I announced then I withdrew these complaints. I swear to God this is surreal !!

It seems to me that it is a pathetic move from the prosecutor general to appear independent  from the MB's power ,he is referring activists to the criminal court because  a case related to Ahmed Shafik !! This is so pathetic !!

Updated :

It turns out that even with what Shafik had done , Mona and Alaa are going to be referred to the criminal court because according to the law this is a felony involves the society and not an individual right so even if the individual "Shafik" gives up his civil right , the society represented by the prosecution will continue in the case !!

Who wants to Cut the cables !??

Posted on 11:41 by Unknown
Today is another slow day for internet in Egypt. Telecom Egypt announced that once again the Alexandria internet sea cable "SEA-ME-WE-Wa" in the Mediternean was damaged and it will be fixed with no hours. This is the second time it happens in less than one week. The first time was last Friday if you remember.
Now we got Col. Ahmed Ali announcing on his official FB page that the Egyptian Navy forces arrested 3 divers while they were cutting the internet sea cable near El Shataby beach !!!
Col. Ali did not say who those divers suspected "The correct term" of damaging the cable were and why they were doing this.
It is worth to mention that this announcement comes after some telecommunication officials announced that they believed there was something criminal behind the damage in the internet cable. I think they got a hint
Of course you see this post after long time in browsing and attempting to collect links and so on..
Hopefully we will know soon who those three are and know their true story.

Update :

More details emerged about the three suspects :

And the battle between the Judiciary and presidency continues

Posted on 04:36 by Unknown
Today the Cairo Appeal has overturned President Morsi's decision to dismiss former prosecutor general Abdel Maguid Mahmoud in a new confrontation between judiciary and presidency or in other words judiciary and the Muslim brotherhood.
Now according to this court ruling Morsi's decision to appoint Talaat Abdullah as prosecutor general is cancelled.
There is a lot of talk , legal talk now regarding the meaning of that court ruling and whether the presidency will appeal or not. Some legal expert I spoke with earlier today told me that Abdel Maguid Mahmoud should be reinstated accordingly even for 24 hours than to resign so the Supreme judiciary council would choose a new prosecutor general.
Other legal experts say that Abdel Maguid Mahmoud will not be reinstated but legally his term was over and so the Supreme judiciary council will choose from 3 candidates according to the constitution. Some say the ruling can be appealed while others believe it is not.
Former prosecutor general Abdel Maguid Mahmoud told Anadolu news agency that he was going to study the court ruling and its reasoning in order to see what he will do next.
The case was filed by two lawyers including loudmouthed bigger than life lawyer Mortada Mansour.

The Muslim brotherhood and its members as well their supporters claim that this court ruling is unconstitutional because it violates article no. 236 that gives immunity to the results of the constitutional declarations by SCAF and Morsi.

The current prosecutor general is claiming the same thing.
The MB's judges for Egypt also say the same thing.
Ironically the Cairo appeal has another view according to its reasoning it issued shortly. The court believes that this is not a presidential decree but rather an administrative decision that can be appealed and cancelled. Also the court believes that Constitutional declaration is invalid because it was not put to public vote as it should according to the law.
There is a huge legal and judiciary dilemma here thanks to the fiasco created by President Morsi's legal adviser the amazing Fouad Gadallah !!

Going back to the old #FreeAlaa hashtag

Posted on 04:50 by Unknown
I think we are going to use after all the old "#FreeAlaa" hashtag. He went today to the prosecutor general's office with his wife and baby son wearing the white clothes of temporary detention.
First of all Ahad Soueif , Alaa Abdel Fatah's aunt has translated his statement published on his official FB page in to English. Here is the translation as she published it on her official FB page.

I've decided to go to the Prosecutor tomorrow mid-day, for I will not expose my wife, my son and my home to the practices of the Police if they decide to carry out the detention order.
The order itself is proof of the corrupt nature of the case and the bias of the Prosecutor-General towards the Muslim Brotherhood and the Office of the Supreme Guide.
I have never failed to respond to a legal summons, even when it came from an institution whose legitimacy I did not accept - like the Military Prosecutor. The only explanation for the detention order, and its fevered announcement in the media, is that the Public Prosecutor is instigating the Police and the followers of the MB to act with violence towards the accused. Tomorrow, therefore, I will demand that the investigation be carried out by a judge so that we can be sure of a level of neutrality, since these accusations are directed at political opponents of the MB - the MB to which the Public Prosecutor belongs.

I am not scared by the jails of the despotic state, and I will not exchange being a man unjustly accused to being a fugitive from justice. I will not give the authorities an excuse for cheap melodrama when they detain me to satisfy the followers of Mursi and his Guide's thirst for repression.
I leave it to my comrades in the revolution to judge the correct response to this paradox: four months have passed since complaints were filed accusing leading members of the MB of supervising torture at the entrances to the Ittihadiyya (Presidential Palace) - four months with no investigations, yet the Prosecutor rushes today to investigate the events of this Friday at Muqattam.
Finally: "Stop! Whoa! It's the Guide that makes him go!"

Second here is the protest held in solidarity with Alaa Abdel Fatah outside the prosecutor general's office.

Breaking : Arrest Warrants issued in “Mount Battle”

Posted on 10:21 by Unknown
The prosecutor general office has announced from short time that arrest warrants have been issued against activists Alaa Abdel Fatah , Ahmed Douma , Karim El Shaer ,  Hazem Abdel Azim and Ahmed Eid. According to the arrest warrant , the five are banned from travel.
The prosecutor general also order to request the interrogation of Nawara Negm.
The 6 activists are being reported by allegedly a number of political figures and parties “Mainly MB and Islamists” to the public prosecutor and are being accused of inciting violence , destroying properties and attacking people. There are 4 CDs with videos, screenshots from their social media accounts and photos prove their guilty in calling people to torch down the Muslim brotherhood’s headquarters and killing MB members.
Yes there is a new arrest warrant for Alaa , it is unbelievable !! Alaa has broke all records by having arrest warrants in time of Mubarak, SCAF and Morsi !!
There have been leaks regarding these warrants since early morning and we are expecting even more warrants. “Not less than 100 warrants actually”
There are online calls urging these names not to surrender to the prosecutor general. Already Karim El Shaer has announced from short time on Facebook that he will not surrender to the prosecutor general’s order because he does not recognize this prosecutor general. El Shaer believes that this order proves that Morsi’s regime was walking on the same path of Mubarak and that he will continue to fight till it is downed. El Shaer was arrested during Mubarak’s rule by the way.
By the way I would like to know why there was no arrest warrant or investigation issued against the MB official filmed at the Presidential Palace for the illegal detention and torture of Egyptian citizens on December 5,2012 at the presidential Palace.

 Updated

Nawara Negm commented on the decision on ONTV channel from short awhile ago saying that she will not go to the interrogation and she does not care about imprisonment. Already both her parents were from the most famous political prisoners in time of Nasser and Sadat.

Nawara Negam said on her twitter account that Morsi's actions now remind her of President Sadat in his last days.

مرسي بيعمل السادات في اواخر ايامه
— ساحرة المقطم (@nawaranegm) March 25, 2013
Now Alaa Abdel Fatah has issued a statement on his official Facebook page announcing that he will head to the prosecutor general officer's tomorrow because he does not want the Police to terrorize his wife Manal or their baby son Khaled despite he believes the warrant is an evidence the corruption of the prosecutor general and bis bias to the Muslim brotherhood. Tomorrow Abdel Fatah will demand an investigate judge following the ministry of justice to ensure neutrality. Now there are leaks that the arrest warrants will include tweeps and so on. For this Egyptian tweeps have launched the new hashtag "We are calling for burning down the MB headquarters" Yes , they are calling for burning down the MB's HQ. In less than 4 hours the hashtag attracted more 1,190 tweets. Tomorrow Alaa Seif and Ahmed Eid decided will head to the prosecutor general's office downtown Cairo at 12 PM. Alaa's family will be with him. The activists are planning for a stand outside the prosecutor general's office at the same time. Now here is an interesting legal view from prosecutor Kareem Sallam about what the prosecutor general's decisions. People are wondering now if President knows about today's prosecutor general's decision especially after his speech yesterday where he hinted about "those responsible for chaos" to the end of his talk including "Exceptional measures" . People also wonder why the MB has announced its general mobilization too on the same day.

After the Mount Battle , We Got the Media Battle !!

Posted on 15:08 by Unknown

After few hours from now Islamists from Muslim brotherhood youth members and Salafists are planning for another battle. The Muslim brotherhood youth and Islamists are planning a million man protest to besiege the media city in October 6 once again. They are calling actually for the storming of the city and to block the transmission of the following channels “CBC,ONTV, MBC Misr , El Kahara Wal Nas !!

This battle is led by none other than the king of talk shows who appeared on TV more than ElBaradei since the start of Egyptian revolution Sheikh Hazem Salah Abu Ismail.

The campaign or the battle does not stop in the infidel media city as some tweep told me on Saturday. The battle goes on personally targeting political and figures by names at their home like for instance Khaled Ali who was injured while protecting a MB member during the Clashes.

Now the following part will depend on storify leaving with no comment from me at all after the break with no comment what so ever.

The secretary general of MB Mahmoud Ezzat announced in the press conference held on Saturday claimed that the brotherhood was not participating officially in that protest planned at the media city  and that “the brotherhood’s members that are going to participate in this protest only represent themselves !!”

Last time I heard that the brotherhood’s members were going to represent themselves only and not the MB was on 24 January 2011.

The big shots and MB spokespersons swear that they respect the media and so on, no one of them spoke on why Misr 25 TV channel has accused the Egyptian Christians of standing behind the attack against the MB members in Mokattam.

Misr 25 TV : Christian protesters

To be accurate the MB’s official TV channel said that Half of the protesters are Christians and the other half are Pro-Mubarak regime supporters !!

BY the way blaming and accusing the Christians were a main theme on Friday among the MB members and Islamists in a sick way. Today we found them sharing a photo of some protester doing a victory sign in front of a torched bus during the Mokattam’s clashes claiming that he was a Christian based on what they thin a cross tattoo on his wrist !!

The MB and FJP officials are completely silent on this unbelievable incitement.

#MB Vs. Protesters : The Mount Battle In Pictures

Posted on 14:39 by Unknown

My dear friend Mahmoud Gamal El Din was there at the Mount Battle along with his camera. He went to protest as well to cover the protest as talented and amazing reporter and photographer.

By the way I tried to call Mahmoud yesterday while in field. He was among the activists who tried to stop the attack against the MB members by protesters but in vain.

#MB VS. Protesters : After the Mount battle

Posted on 13:52 by Unknown

The battle has got a name now “The Mount battle” in reference to Mokattam Hill that is regarded by most Egyptians as a mount while it is not. The biggest ironies of the whole thing is that the MB members are the ones who named it “The Mount Battle”.

I have got too many thoughts and short time today. I am between reading the testimonies of those who have been there or following news and reactions. It is just crazy. I will try to do my best.

The Protesters and the Mount Battle

Most protesters believe that they won this battle after kicking the Muslim brotherhood’s ass in Mokattam and paying the price of losing partially their humanity by approving the actions of torture. They believe that they made the Muslim brotherhood pay for their assaults and attacks on the protesters since the attack of the MB youth on protesters including girls I knew at the parliament in January 2012 not even the attack of MB members on the protests at the Presidential Palace on December 5. What happened on December 5th from torture and assault against protesters was the turning point , the angry protesters still got these terrible images and footage and can not forget it. The statements and the actions of the MB are not helping them to forget especially in time of the elected president we got victims like Gika , Christy and El Gendy.

It is like living in a war and most of the protesters believe that they won that battle against the MB members who used teased them of being weak and not so strong to stand against the great fighters of MB.

No more humanity , No More Mr. Nice guy

Most of the protesters did beat the crap out of the MB protesters madly but other protesters like activists and veteran revolutionaries tried to stop the assaults but they failed in front of extreme angry protesters. The photos were horrifying without doubt. It is as if the peaceful protesters of January 25 revolution are not longer peaceful or believe in peacefulness. Well You got very angry frustrated people now and they do not have anymore that romantic peacefulness view of the revolution. They are  on the verge of hunger revolution and this is another part of yesterday scene.

Still some people tried to stop this madness.

Khaled Ali , the former presidential candidate tried to stop the beating of a MB member and in the end he was beaten and had an injury in his Shoulder. Shahenda Maklad , who was assaulted by the MB last December 5,2012 was trying to defend the MB members captured by the protesters but could not do anything in front of huge and sad anger.

Nawara Negm kept screaming and running behind the protesters telling them to leave the MB members they capture but nobody listened. Nawara said that one of the protesters told her that he was tortured by the MB during the Presidential Palace clashes. Activist Nazly Hussein and Rasha Azzab also mentioned that they tried to stop the protesters but they were too angry. “Did those who torture the people at presidential palace were questioned !?” The angry protesters frequently told activist Nazly Hussein.

It is worth to mention that Negm and Ali are not the so-called Wanted list of the Islamists which is another thing I will speak about in another post.

The MB and the Mount battle

The MB members after bragging a whole week on how they kicked activist Ahmed Douma’s ass and slapped a woman activist and vowing to slaughter whoever would dare to come near to the MB HQ yesterday by force are living and excelling the role of the victims. Amazingly now the MB spokesperson that what happened to them is an evidence that they do not have militias !!

I followed the preparations of this battle since last Saturday , from a week ago after the attack against the graffiti artists and I got my shares from MB comments on my twitter on how the MB men will teach those secular protesters the lesson of their lives. Still what happened yesterday was a defeat.

By the way the MB also beat the crap out of the protesters and even allegedly tortured some of them including Mokattam residents in a Mosque , yes in  Mosque. No is not innocent in the Mount Battle.

Now the MB members and Islamists especially from Youth decided to start a new battle next Sunday at the Media City in order to bring down those secular TV channels.

The MB members and Islamists especially from youth are begging Morsi to get angry and the Guidance office to arm them for real otherwise they will burn down the guidance office did not arm them allegedly enough.

May be this can be the start for the MB members and Youth to think about what the holy guidance office and its decisions. May be this will force some of them to think on why the guidance office decided to mobilize their members from govenorates outside Cairo in particular ignoring the A Class MB youth like El Shater and Hassan Malek’s sons. Amazingly the A Class MB youth are doing this job in incitement perfectly while leaving the dirty work , the handy work to province members if I may say.

The new kind of protesters

As soon as I knew that there were ambushes from both sides on the highway to Mokattam , I knew that MB members from provinces coming in the afternoon would see hell after all they would meet the protesters coming from the Shanty towns and popular areas surrounding Mokattam.

I knew that as soon as I read from reporters and friends on the ground that the MB members began to attack the protesters and their cars from the top of the hill using bird shots and rocks that the MB member would face hell for real because they are not dealing anymore with chichi protesters of Heliopolis. They are dealing more and more in the clashes with the working angry class that can not tolerate anymore economic failures. FYI Mokattam is surrounded by popular areas and shanty towns in amazing paradox between the upscale area and the low scale areas below the hell.

These protesters can not be controlled by the Fancy opposition and sophisticated members of National Salvation Front , this is the fact the MB does not want to understand or may be they do not actually understand because as a group they depend on complete obedience.

From couple of months ago the people of Alexandria , mainly from popular areas attacked the Islamists from Salafists as well the Muslim brotherhood and beat the crap out of them. It turned out that most of the protesters that kicked out the Salafists coming from outside Alexandria came from those popular areas. The people had enough on how MBs and Salafists controlled the distribution of bread and gas in those areas. Nobody attention for this huge change taking place. I think we are witnessing the same thing.

Already we are also witnessing the beginning of hunger revolution especially in these hard economic times.

The Finale

In the end I will say over and over if there was true justice in the investigations of clashes that took place on December 5,2012 , if there was true justice and true state of law that would restore the rights of Mina Philip as Egyptian citizen we would not see that middle aged man from the Muslim brotherhood dragged on the top of Mokattam.

The ex-vice president Mahmoud Mekki said important phrase on December 5,2012 while the MB members were beating protesters and journalists outside the Palace he was standing in speaking to journalists “ The survival is for the strongest”. The phrase summarizes what is happening in Egypt.

Yes our Presidency and its representatives said it clear “The Survival is for the strongest” and the people are following this

#MB VS protesters : The night goes on !!

Posted on 17:15 by Unknown
Now I could not update this post for hours because we are having internet problems all over Egypt but I have been glued to my twitter , TV channels and News websites to follow up what is taking place. I can not update my Storify Live update. It is annoying.
Things are not good at all.
At night the clashes are mainly between the protesters and the Central Security forces “CSF”. Again the Attack and Retreat Policy is applied. Some MB members also clash from time to time with the protesters. The CSF is reportedly using extremely bad type of tear gas grenades.
The ambulance authority announced that there are officially 147 injured and no fatalities. Still on the ground activists and protesters report another thing. April 6 Youth member Mostafa El Boghdady is reporting that one protester was killed.
The Muslim brotherhood members also claim that at least one of their members have been killed. There is no doubt that the MB members that were captured by the protesters were beaten brutally and crazily. It is also worth to mention that the protesters and activists who have been in Mohamed Mahmoud 1 Clashes and Cabinet HQ Clashes of 2011 were protecting them but in vain.
A MB member was torched and his pictures shocked us. Thank Goodness He is still alive and fine according to his brother on Facebook.
From Al Masry Al Youm
Another MB member was dragged after being beaten. Actually more than MB member were dragged in the streets by the angry protesters according to the photos we saw and vice versa also. It was a streets war for real.

Dragged while bleeding "Ahram Online"
It is like the December 5 clashes but the MB members and protesters changed their places. More photos can be found in Ahram Online.
The protesters reported that the CS forces were attacking the protesters  pushing them back in order to liberate members of the MB captured and detained in El Hamed mosque. “There is a photo for the mosque in the first post”
At the same time protesters report that there are other protesters captured at a Mosque called Belal Ibn El Rabah in the area.
FYI today is the 85th anniversary of founding the Muslim brotherhood in Ismailia. It is worth to mention also that protesters from several months burned down the MB headquarter there !!

I can write some phrases from the type that Egypt lost today to the end of that talk but I believe today actually is a result of the polarization already planted by the Muslim brotherhood and President Morsi starting from his constitutional declaration and the Presidential Palace massacre on December 5. In fact if those from the MB who tortured the protesters on the fences of the presidential Palace were brought to justice
The polarization of the Muslim brotherhood continues as the MB media as represented in Misr 25 TV channel kept claiming that the Christians and communists who are fighting Islam. You got someone like RSSD News network founder and MB member Abdel Kadr El Sheheny claiming that the protesters are Christians fighting Islam on his twitter account.
The polarization of the Muslim brotherhood continues as the MB youth kept chanting for hours “ Islamic state , Islamic state against secularism” and till the end of these sectarian chants while firing bird shots at the protesters. Yes they started first and I think the tweets I shared from the location from unbiased reporters.
The polarization of the Muslim brotherhood continues when they keep cheering for the police that needs to be reformed because the police is attacking the protesters.
Yes this is what Ikhwan Web does not say in English and will not say because they do not admit the guts to say it. I know that today the MB will use it in its PR work to present itself as the victim of the militant opposition in Egypt and probably we will find the Prosecutor general accusing activists and political figures by name Saturday morning.

#MB Vs. Protesters : The Battle this time in Moktam !!

Posted on 16:31 by Unknown
Tomorrow several opposition political powers and parties are planning to protest at the Muslim brotherhood headquarter in Moktam. It is an escalation move to protest what happened to the protesters at the HQ last Saturday. The protest should start at 2 PM.

The political powers and figures organizing the protest announced their demands :
  1. Removing the illegal Public Prosecutor from his position and appointing a new Public Prosecutor through a legal and transparent procedure and investigating properly in all former cases.
  2. Resignation of the failing government and appointing a national salvation government chosen by national forces that represents all the Egyptians.
  3. Discontinuing the use of the illegal constitution that was tailored by MB and in coordination with one political party, regardless of the demands and rights of all national political groups and civil societies. This would be done through a legitimate constituent assembly; since the former assembly does not have the capacity to draft a constitution for a post revolutionary nation; in the mean time we would be using the revised Constitution of 1971 (through the March 19, 2011 referendum) temporarily, and the formation of the Constituent Assembly that includes genuine national constitutional law experts and representatives of trade unions, political parties and various community groups equally. The new constitution would pass by referendum and must win 50% votes plus one from the voters enrolled in the electoral tables so that there is a legitimate pass of a constitution for Egypt.
  4. Dismantling the Muslim Brotherhood by force of law or be subject to current law of associations 84 for year 2002
  5. Claim CAA to start the process of legalization of the Muslim Brotherhood group to announce their sources of funding in the current and previous press conference within two months maximum and refer any violation of the law to the new Public Prosecutor.
  6. The call for the new presidential elections in September 2013 under the supervision and management of full international control, from the United Nations and international organizations.
  7. The formation of an independent committee composed of technical and logistic experts, to revise the national ID database to ensure the integrity of any future election process in Egypt.
Now who is going to participate in this protest ? Who are the political figures and what are the political powers behind it !? Well here is a quick glimpse of who will head to the MB HQ tomorrow from the big names : George Ishak, Alaa Al Aswani, Nawara Negm, Dr. Hazem Abdel Azim, Youssef El Hussieny, Dina Abdel Fattah, Zeyad El Eliemy, Bassel Adel, Bassem Kamal, Mostafa El Gendy , Alaa Abdel Fatah
From the parties participating in the protest : Free Egyptians and El Karama Party. April 6 Youth “Ahmed Maher Front” announced that it is going to participate too. It is worth to mention that Liberal Misr El Hurreya Party announced that it will not participate in the protest.
Of course the MB will not stand still in front of this. Its secretary general Mahmoud Hussein said today in the MB unsuccessful presser that the MB has right to defend its properties if the police do not defend it.
As expected the MB has mobilized its members to its headquarter since afternoon.
The MB members at HQ from afternoon "By Ahmed Amin"
“Misr 25” Official MB TV channel is claiming that there are 5000 MB members now at the HQ celebrating the legalization of the Muslim brotherhood as NGO !!
later they were chanting their slogans by Ashraf Mahdy
I do not feel that good from what is going to happen tomorrow especially that the MB Harlem Shake star and the leading figure in 5 December Presidential Palace battle Ahmed El Mogheer has declared on his Facebook page the great Jihad for the Muslim brotherhood tomorrow in defending the holy MB HQ claiming that those will die defending it from MB will go heavens while those terrorists who will attack it will go to hell !! He also admits that there are directives to the MB members to protect the HQ and that all 100% of the youth listened to these directives.
The MB members indeed are bragging online that they are ready to kill who comes to their holy HQ. Here is a reply dear Haitham El Tabei , the AFP journalist got just for giving directions for the journalists tomorrow on how to escape in case of clashes from Moktam area.
Tweep @abd_allahh

You are explaining the escape plan !?? No worries there is no escape as the rule is simply “who ascends to Moktam hill will ascend to heavens as the angel of death revises his papers and the MB youth are assisting him !!
From their side the residents of Moktam themselves can not take it anymore and are collecting signatures for petition so the Muslim brotherhood leave the area. Shops and banks in the area have closed and installed wood surfaces to protect their windows. NSGB emptied its ATM.

Happy Mother’s Day From #Egypt

Posted on 14:01 by Unknown
Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers in Egypt and the Arab world.
This was the first post stamp issued in Egypt to commemorate the National Day in year 1957
Mother's Day 21-3-1957
And here is the Google Doodle for the Day from Google Egypt.

Also here is the Mother’s Day song for the year by the legendary Soad Hosny from Lyrics of Salah Jahin and the music of Kamel El Taweel from the Egyptian National TV archives. “Legends summit”

Good morning my majesty
It is worth to mention that Egypt was the mother of the idea to have the Mother’s Day on March 21st in the Arab world thanks to the famous Amin brothers in 1956. The Amin brothers adored their mother as well their godmother , the mother of all Egyptians Safia Zaghlol.
The mother’s role in Egypt and how it is highly regarded is rooted deeply in our folklore without knowledge now. From Isis to Virgin Mary to Lady Zeinab
Today also is the first day of Spring and is the Nairoz for the Kurds and Baha'i's by the way.

#MOI thinks that video is offensive !!

Posted on 13:22 by Unknown

Egyptian Vlogger Ahmed Anwar found out today that the ministry of interior “MOI” is suing him for offending the Egyptian police because of a video he uploaded. He also found out that there is an order for his arrest on 17 March 2013. His case number is 4502 for year 2012.

Here is the video which the MOI believes that is offensive.

Anwar : Ministry of belly dancers formally known as ministry of interior

The video is dated to March 2012 where Anwar criticized sarcastically how the ministry of interior and “ The Wives of police officers” association decided to honor out of blue Lebanese singer and actress Marwa for her role in raising the morale of police force !!!

Anwar said in the video that that was the ministry of interior but rather the ministry of belly dancers. The video is hilarious actually !!

Marwa is a D-List actress/singer who is known for steamy films and songs. She appeared naked in one of her cult films last year ironically before being honored by MB

You know I think nobody offended the Egyptian police like the ministry of interior itself with all its wrong policies and violations ..etc. Nobody offended the Egyptian police except those police officers who decided to honor D-List actress in the first place.

It is joke considering the endless video clips we have got for the Egyptian police from torture and abuse to humans recorded even live and yet no one is considering these videos as offensive from the ministry !!

The video is not offensive as much the behavior of the MOI that tortures systematically the activists like Mohamd El Gendy and abuses hundreds of minors in custody !!

By the way this is not the first time we found out that there are activists , journalists and bloggers being sued without being informed

When #Iraq Invasion echoed in #Tahrir square

Posted on 08:42 by Unknown
From 10 years ago Iraq was invaded and thousands of Egyptians stormed the Tahrir square in protest during the strong days of Mubarak regime.
Ironically at the same time the Muslim brotherhood and the National Democratic Party were hand in hand so-called protesting the foreign invasion of Iraq at Cairo Stadium. Sadly the media focused only what is happening in the Stadium and ignored the square.
The photo below was from the rare photos taken from Tahrir square and published in Egyptian press by Randa Shaath on 20 March 2003 and was published in Ahram Weekly.
In Tahrir from ten years by Randa Shaath
Here are more photos from Corbis and Getty

Of course the security forces dispersed by force that huge protest.

Those who protested in the square from famous faces , from activists were then stalked by state security for days and months. Some of them were arrested and tortured too.
You know the invasion of Iraq did change a lot of things in the region without doubt.
