Our own NSA scandal

 Instead of speaking about the global NSA scandal and how the United States spied on our communications in Egypt hoping that our current government would do something like other governments when it claims independence and bravery against the U.S , we find out that our phone calls leaked and aired on air on TV.

In the past three weeks , Self claimed TV host, Islamist movements specialist and well known State security writer Dr.Abdel Rahim Ali has been airing phone calls recorded in 2011 for prominent activists that played a role  in the 25 January 2011 revolution on Al Kahera Wal Nas TV channel in order to expose them as fraud and prove that the January 25 revolution was a Muslim Brotherhood Global Conspiracy. It is not a big secret that the TV channel of Advertising tycoon Tarek Nour is a Pro-Mubarak police channel and  it is not a big secret either that Abdel Rahim is connected to state security.

Nothing in the calls aired on Al Qahera Wal Nas is truly scandalous or shocking or even surprising as some claim and act accordingly lately in a silly way. For instance from two days ago one of the audio leaks is for activist Asmaa Mahfouz asking another activist she knows whether they found her file in the State security after its storming in March 2011 just like thousands of Egyptians who asked their friends who were in the capital of hell in that night. People now are acting as if they did not know that the State security was allegedly stormed in 2011 by the approval of the army.

Still the Mubarak orphans and those longing for the old good days of the police state are doing a big fuss about and using it to hit those group of activists. Amazingly that group of activists currently under the fire of Abdel Rahim Ali is the same group of activists that had been groomed by the media right after the revolution in January 2011 and were crowned as symbols of the revolution just like Tahrir square. I hate to say that I wrote before this was going to happen.
They are also the same group of activists that have been widely criticized by other revolutionaries for not being revolutionary enough like for instance Mostafa Al Nagar and Ahmed Maher.

Now I do not care much about the content of these calls leaked on TV as much I care the privacy and legal status of such act.In any other respectable country an investigation should be opened on who recorded these calls for what reason and whether it was recorded legally “Court or prosecution's permission” or how it was aired like this is.

Abdel Rahim Ali claims that they were recorded by the orders of the prosecution and yet he fails to answer on how they are leaked and why they are aired this on air. Did the Egyptian general prosecution order them to be aired like that !? In March 2011 after the so-called storming of the State security supervised by the army "that collected all the documents from the good revolutionary youth then" , former minister of interior El Eissawy claimed that there would be no more illegal wiretapping anymore and no one would spy on the calls and emails of the activists except by legal warrant.

Ali is acting like a brave man knowing the legendary Egyptian deep state is going to save him but realistically speaking he can face a jail sentence over his actions. I do need to speak about the legal responsibility of Al Kahera Wal Nas.  By the way Abdel Rahman Youssef , Ahmed Shoukry and Mostafa Al Nagar declared that they were going to take a legal action against him and the channel

In respectable civilized country , Mobinil “Orange” , Vodafone and Etisalat need to explain on how the calls of their clients from Pro-25January revolution political activists were tapped and aired on TV like that. Of course their CEOs think they are in the safe side because of the current regime but you know nothing is forever and one day they will pay the price and it won’t be good for their image whether locally or internationally. 

Of course the Pro-Police/Military state people are cheering for this ignoring the fact that they can be next even after decades."It will happen I am sure because I believe in Karma now".
 I do not speak about the human rights and law to those people because they won't listen and refuse listen. Those people ironically were mad on how the MB used allegedly to spy on the phone calls of the officials in the State !! Ironically indeed.

I know it can be hard in a country like Egypt where the majority of people have been oppressed for years to know that no one has the right what so ever to record or spy on people's personal telecommunications without court's permission or the general prosecution's permission. They are giving up essential right but part of me can not blame them when I see the amount of fear and spread in the media. The people should know that there is no use in a weak state that breaks and misuse the law in order to get back at its opponents , it is a failed state.
And yes January 25 revolution is being attacked and fought cyrstal clear by the approval of the current regime.

The #Jan25 now in Nutshell : Sunday The 22nd

Early Sunday  : Cairo misdemeanor court sentences April 6 leading figures Ahmed Maher, Mohamed Adel and revolutionary activist Ahmed Douma to three years in jail and a LE50,000 fine each on charges including organizing illegal protests and attacking security forces at Abdeen Court.

Veto Gate : Douma , Maher and Adel chant down with the military rule after the verdict.

As a reaction the April 6 Youth movement announced that it withdrew from the roadmap. The revolution way Front announced that it would organize a stand tomorrow in solidarity with the revolutionary activists standing trials including those three.
Of course April 6 Youth is now in a very critical position considering the fact that it is being defamed 24/7 in the media as the MB’s civilian secular undercover movement and how it is a foreign funded movement…etc. No much sympathy when you are defamed 24/7 in the media and all people are attacking you.
Felol and Pro-military tweeps and Facebookers are extremely happy for this verdict as they see it the start to the end of those “25 January dogs” who are trying to bring down the state. 

 It is first stage sentence which means that there could be an appeal. Nevertheless it feels bitter , too bitter to be exact. It is worth to mention that it is the first in a series of upcoming trials Jan25 Non Islamist activists are standing including Alaa Abdel Fatah’s trial in front of the criminal court and Mahinour Al Masry and Hassan Mostafa’s trial in Alexandria.
Sunday Afternoon : Suez activist Bassem Mohsen died in hospital  in Cairo after being shot Friday in the clashes between the Pro-Morsi supporters and security forces.

Late Bassem Mohsen in the true manifestation of the Egyptian revolution. One of the unknown faces that went on 28 January 2011 in search for bread,freedom and social justice. The young man lost his eye in Mohamed Mahmoud clashes in November 2011 during SCAF. In early days of Morsi’s rule , he was facing a military trial in Suez. In late Morsi’s rule Bassem Mohsen protested against the Muslim Brotherhood and was one of Tamaroud’s local leading members in Suez.
On Friday he was shot and of course the MB and security forces are exchanging accusations on who killed that young revolutionary. Bassem was transferred last night from Suez to Cairo in extremely critical condition because there was not a neurological surgeon there. In the way the ambulance found that they forgot the blood packets needed for Bassem’s surgery back in Suez and people demanded online for blood donations.
Today Bassem Mohsen died.

Late Sunday The presidency assigns a fact finding committee for violence since 30 June 2013. Photos circulating on Facebook and twitter for 2014calendars and agenda where the 25 January 2014 is officially considered the National Day for Police. Back to back , nothing about that protest in Tahrir from 3 years ago that turned in to uprising then in to a revolution that inspired other countries.
I do know how or what to say except next 25 January 2014 , it will be very hard just like today.

The Time for Kolena Khaled Said Facebook to be active

Since last 3 July 2013 and the famous Kolena Khaled Said Facebook page has not been active. Since then its admins have not posted a single post.
The last post in the page was the statement of General Abdel Fatah El Sisi on that day

Throughout the page you will know that it was supporting the protests on 3 July 2013. Till this day nothing has been published including some clarification from the admins of the page , at least the main admins “ Wael Ghonim and Abdel Rahman Mansour” to explain the situation for the 3.6 million subscribers of the page.
The page actually still attracts subscribers up till now.
Personally I know that Abdel Rahman Mansour is currently studying abroad and Ghonim is back to his work in Google. It is not a big secret that both Mansour and Ghonim were and have been accused of being MB members just like in the early days of 25 January revolution.

Despite Ghonim publicly supported 3 July 2013 yet he has been accused by the same old Pro-Mubarak/ of being a secret Muslim Brotherhood member and that he is currently attacking the Egyptian army abroad.

The evidence they are using to frame the accusation is an old video for Ghonim filmed during the SCAF where he urged that SCAF should handover power quickly for the sake of Egyptian army in English mistranslating it in Arabic to make it as if he was inciting against the army.
That video and wrong translation were aired on Rola Kharsa’s TV show on Sada El Balad. Amazingly Kharsa was a BBC correspondent and her husband was the head of Egyptian National TV bureau in London and yet she accepted to show that old video claiming to be recent one with wrong translation !! I believe Ghonim should sue her and her channel for defame.
Anyhow Ghonim is no longer the Google Golden boy as he used to be called in the local media. It is like back to back still there is nothing new about that. He has been always attacked and accused of being a spy in the past 3 years.

The Islamists launched a so-called Kolena Khaled Said FB page Islamic version after believing that the original Page is biased against Islamists and Muslim Brotherhood before ousting Morsi. They even launched a campaign then to nationalize the page after all both Ghonim and Mansour were speaking publicly online and offline criticizing the MB and Morsi in his past months.
They also launched recently  the Kolena Khaled Said FB page All Egyptians version !!
The Kolena Khaled Said Facebook Page is not owned by his family nor by the original admins with my all due respect. It is bigger than them I am afraid. Closing the page or not updating now is a big blow to the reason of its existence , it is like someone did not understand the huge role this page played not only in Egypt but in the Arab world.
I am afraid there are still Khaled Saids killed in Egypt and there is a disrespect to human rights in Egypt. There is still huge polarization in Egypt. A polarization the page that was often fighting with its moderate views , the same moderate views made revolutionaries
Now there is no Bassem Youssef “at least for another couple of months” and revolutionary activists like Alaa Abdel Fatah and Ahmed Maher are in prison while Mubarak cronies are being acquitted . People are still dying in the streets while protesting and they are also killing each other. The Police has not been reformed , in fact there is nothing reformed in this country yet. We are on the verge of another “ history's greatest yet the not so good but let’s have it so the MB won’t gloat” constitutional fiasco.
Even Khaled Said’s retrial is still and I think that those two policemen who killed late Khaled will be acquitted in the end.
The page has to complete its role.
The admins owed it to the youth who were killed in the past 3 years for the sake of a dream it helped in spreading.
For God’s sake Mubarak’s old rotten dying regime is fighting by all its force for its existence and continuation yet the revolution youth are losing hope when it is long battle !!
Yes it is long battle and feeling despair all the time is not helping , actually it cripples you and makes you lose the battle even without starting it. There is always hope and as I recall a young activist once said “We will make the despair despair in Egypt”. At least we should try more so younger generations would not blame us in the same way we blame older generations for not defending their rights and our rights as well.
It is time to have Kolena Khaled Said Page back , the battle is not over.

For the Sake of #Jan25 Principles

Today 14 girls have been sentenced to 11 years in jail in because of balloons and a hand sign in one of the most disgraceful court rules ever in the Egyptian judicial system if I may say. The true humans in this country were shocked and angry for this verdict murderers and corrupted do not get regardless of the political affiliation of those girls!!
Now among those are angry a hacker called Pharaoh that hacked the Judges Club’s official website, the Judges club is Egypt’s Judges Syndicate.

The hacker left a message that I believe actually represents the view of many young Pro-revolutionaries :

I have never imagine that I would defend one day a MB or a Pro-Morsi person but today I will defend the 14 girls sentenced 11 years in jail because of Rabaa sign. As much as I hate the Muslim Brotherhood , this is injustice. The Principles of the 25 January revolution are bread , freedom and social justice and today the freedom of 14 girls has be suppressed. The Muslim Brotherhood did sell us and the revolution but I will never give up the January 25 revolution.

 This message is so true , it is about justice and human rights. You know I remember from a year ago the MB mocked the revolutionaries for standing for the rights of Mr. Hammada, the Pro-Mubarak Pro-Omar Suleiman supporter who was stripped naked and was beaten by security forces during the protests against ousted Morsi at the Presidential Palace. This is is the same ting , the point that our fascists from both sides do not get. The fight is about basic justice and human rights. Anyhow I doubt that both fascists whether Pro-Military or Pro-Islamists will understand this because in the end they are fascist.  
The Non Humans who are happy with that verdict because those girls are Muslim Brotherhood make me feel sorry because I know that karma is bitter. One thing for sure I have learned in one year since November 2012 that karma is truly bitter  and the Muslim Brotherhood knows that very well but they do not want to admit it in this stage. In Islamic way I will say that Justice is from the names of God and Justice will prevail sooner or later.

A Stolen Revolution Indeed

The statements of John Kerry about how the Muslim Brotherhood stole the January revolution from the Tahrir kids echoed strongly back in Cairo. It is most powerful statement condemning and slamming the Muslim Brotherhood since the 25 January 2011 not even since 3 July 2013.

Now I have two remarks about that statement.

Well the first remark is that I am afraid that the Brotherhood was not the only thief in town that stole the revolution from those kids in Tahrir. In fact all the grown ups stole it along with the Muslim Brotherhood whether the army or the deep state or the pseudo political parties or media or Islamists or even global and regional powers. They are even fighting over the booty now.

Those kids in Tahrir square have spent the past three years between the morgue and funerals fighting the worst despair where as their revolution has been stolen over and over in front of their own eyes.

Those kids do not have anything to do except see their friends in coffins not to mention being demonized in the eyes of the public at the same time they are trying to fight fairly in a dirty war without any foreign aid or deep state aid. Those kids are the best personification of Don Quixote. 

They tried to enter the realm of dirty politics but failed thanks to the older generation that insists to play according to the Mubarak’s regime game rules. The revolution is simply stolen because the Mubarak’s regime has not fallen yet for real. The revolution is stolen because the grown ups whether MB or Military or other pseudo political powers got their own agendas different from the real agenda of 25 January revolution : Freedom , Social justice equality and Democracy as a base for a strong nation.

Now the second remark : Some say that this statement or this change in the American attitudetowards Egypt is because we are returning back to the Eastern block !! Yeah this is what is being marketed in the Egyptian media now.

“We made the United States kneel down” a famous tweep in Egyptian twitterville said today in pride without knowing or understanding that the Russian FM made it clear over dozen times whether during his visit in Cairo or even in his interviews in Moscow that Russia was not replacing anyone in Egypt aka the States.

They are also ignoring the interview of the head of GIS major Genera Tohamy with WP where he made it clear that the GIS/CIA were the best friends even now. In nutshell the world is not the world in 1956 as some people hope and think especially with that wave sweeping the country on how El Sisi is the incarnation of Nasser.

John Kerry is already from the camp in the Obama that supports dialogue with the new rulers of Cairo and he expressed many times before unlike the rest of the rest of the Obama administration as well Congress and Senates that got a conservative view about Cairo now.

I believe that Obama administration does not have any problem to deal with the military on the contrary it is the United States’ favorite type of rulers but there are two obstacles facing them : The official bureaucratic thing of that foreign assistance Coup act thing and the image of the Obama administration in the American and international of aiding that “military backed government” as it is being called in international wire services now while that government is suppressing freedoms after praising the 25 January revolution and what it brought from freedoms …etc. You can not hide human rights crimes easily nowadays like in Chile from 40 years ago.

Another factor also I believe is playing role here is lobby and I am not speaking about PR lobbying company in D.C  hired by the Egyptian government but you got the infamous AIPAC as well Israeli government support the interim government too because they believe that the security campaign in Sinai against militants is in the best interest of Israel. All this is not a big secret on the contrary.

It is not a secret either that some Israeli analysts and politicians believed that Morsi and the MB were better choice because they had control of Hamas but Hamas and MB do not have REAL Control on the Salafist Jihadist groups. “Of course the Salafist Jihadists groups in Sinai turned their cannons to Cairo instead Eilat lately”

Anyhow when I look to the whole Egyptian American relations to be honest , all what I find honestly three parties trying to get D.C in their side in some stupid competition.

Of course the army relations with the United States are well known as well old and complicated then you got the Islamists aka the MB and the few non-Islamist parties trying to gain the support of the States in order to reach to the ruling chair.

The fight is about which party got more cards to play with the States, so far the army control the game historically and strategically more than the MB or those pathetic parties.

Anyhow as someone once told me , we are still in the beginning in the film.  May be the kids of Tahrir will restore their revolution hopefully alone in the end.

By the way we did not Facetime anything as Facetime is not working in Egypt and again the revolution was much more than social media one. We are also not just kids fooling around, God knows how much we feel old nowadays.

#MohamedMahmoud : Whitewashing our own Egyptian Karbala

And in some sad irony that is rather closer to a farce the Egyptian government decided officially commemorate the martyrs of Mohamed Mahmoud 2011 clashes .. and the martyrs of army and police as well.
The government already gave orders to some company called El Abed from 5 days ago to build some memorial to commemorate the martyrs of the 25 January and 30 June revolution martyrs and the construction only started on Saturday. The memorial which is built from a very bad material looks indeed like the famous Yellow Submarine !!

Some tent where the government and the police can receive condolences for the martyrs, oh yes some cruel irony !! The cruel irony does not stop here.
The police issued a statement to commemorate the martyrs saying that it respected reviving the memory of all martyrs for their role in the process of national work including those whose blood soaked the tree of national struggle !! This is unbelievable !!
The government or rather the deep state is rather trying to white wash what had done there.
And as our people in Upper Egypt say “We do not accept condolences in our men who are killed except after retribution”  and indeed one of Egypt’s main problems now is retribution aka justice. Simple justice !! Since 25 January 2011 no policeman accused of killing or injuring the protesters was found guilty except may be one : El Shennawy , the eye hunter of Mohamed Mahmoud street who is serving three years only !! Oh yes three years only !!

This is a farce indeed. The right commemoration of Mohamed Mahmoud clashes is through justice , true justice .. anything else is just a farce.
That farce was expected as there were introductory signs paving for it.
Already all the Pro-Mubarak/Pro-Military TV hosts and channels were calling the Pro-army supporters to go to Tahrir square in order to protest against terrorism and to commemorate the martyrs of the army , police and revolutionary activists on the 19th November. Al Ahram newspaper warned last Friday from some cosmic conspiracy against police and army on that day !!

I forget to say that the 19th is also General El Sisi’s birthday too !! Cairo will host too the Ghana vs. Egypt and the Constitution 50 committee will finish voting on the constitution !! Man it is a cosmic conspiracy indeed !!
To avoid clashes with the Muslim brotherhood and the Pro-Military, some revolutionary groups, parties and youth decided to commemorate the event a day earlier on the 18 November 2013. The decision was 5 PM there will be a rally heading from Mohamed Mahmoud to Jaber Salah aka Jika’s home at Abdeen. The event planners made it clear that the Muslim brotherhood and the Pro-Military supporters are not welcome

Other groups decided to go on 19 November 2013 giving no damn to the Muslim brotherhood and those Pro-Military supporters. Among those groups April 6 Youth movement. One of them told me that they would not let the MB or the Pro-military control the street anymore.
By the way some decided to the street both days.
Initially announcing that they will protest in Mohamed Mahmoud street, the Muslim brotherhood and its Islamist allies decided not to go to Mohamed Mahmoud street and decided to commemorate it in other squares. Anyhow pathetic Muslim brotherhood is now trying to white wash itself from what happened in Mohamed Mahmoud claiming that what happened there was an attempt to turn the revolutionary forces against each other.
Unfortunately it happened in digital time where visual and audio archives are there including their own archives.
Yes the leaderships of the MB and Islamists were attacking the protesters but I cannot forget that some MB youth defied the orders of the guidance office and went to Mohamed Mahmoud clashes in 2011 like for instance late Asmaa El Beltagy. The Salafist Youth were dragged to the clashes thanks to Hazem Salah Abu Ismail , of course the Sheikh escaped and left them in front of the monster to face death. It was the start of the Hazemoon movement there.
I can not ignore this.
Honestly I feel that the police , army and government fear Mohamed Mahmoud anniversary and what may happen then. They do not want anyone to touch Tahrir square , they will let the revolutionaries have Mohamed Mahmoud square but not the square. Some say that the state fears that the MB supporters would control the revolution square in Egypt while others say that the State is sending a message that it gained a control on the square that drank the blood of hundreds of protesters and injured in the past 3 years.
Well I always believe it was a mistake to limit the revolution in a square and it turned out that the wicked deep state believes that the revolution was something born and would die in Tahrir square. I fear the revolution process is much complicated than that. Fools do not learn from their mistakes as well the arrogant and the evil.
It did not stop at shifting the blame to the Muslim brotherhood that stood and incited against those thugs who tried to stop the progress of democracy and elections but actually the Old Pro-Mubarak media began to market that actually the MB killed the protesters at Mohamed Mahmoud street !! Despite hundreds of photos and videos incriminating the Egyptian security forces and showing them firing their guns against protesters.
I did not forget what the MB politicians and opportunists did back then , I did not forget either what the media , honorable citizens , SCAF and Police used to said and do !! Yes what they did !!
Tomorrow insh Allah I will blog the big day. By the way some fear that people may get killed once again in the anniversary of Mohamed Mahmoud , to be honest I won’t be surprised but unfortunately as murder and death have become a justified routine in Egypt it won’t make a difference with the majority of the people in Egypt that do not give a damn anymore.

A Kodak Agfa Co-Production : #Oct73War Anniversary in #Tahrir square

This small photo gallery is from Tahrir square last 6 October 2013. It is a co-production between Kodak Agfa and a dear friend of mine.

Of course the day ended in a very sad way despite all the celebrations and so on unfortunately.
Tahrir square is closed in front of protesting until further notice.
Some revolutionary youth are frustrated from its closure. Well Tahrir square was a bless and a curse on the 25 January as it limited the revolution thanks to the media , I still believe that the 25 January revolution and its goals from social justice , freedom and democracy should spread in all over the country from Rashid in the North to Hala’ib , from Rafah to Salloum. One of our bad mistakes is that we limited the revolution to become Tahrir  revolution and Tahrir youth.
Anyhow Symbols are still extremely important and this is why there is a battle over Tahrir between the Muslim brotherhood and the current regime over it. The MB is dying to reach there and the regime is closing in front of protesting.
Call me foolish and dreamy but I believe that the Egyptians will return to Tahrir square again .. just like the first time on 28 January 2011 when they overcome their political differences and ideologies for the real interest of a civilian modern Egypt based on democracy, justice and equality. The revolutionaries will be back when they learn their mistakes.

#KhaledSaid : Erasing a History Starts with Small steps usual

This school year we found out that the photo of Khaled Said was spotted in the second grade's Arabic books .Many people were happy by the move despite institutions like Police did not like unofficially.

Unofficial Facebook page following police and ministry of interior kept publishing comments on how some Khaled Said is mentioned in the school books when he is a bloody addict who deserves to be killed.
Some of course criticize the move saying that children in the second grade will not be familiar with Said. Surprisingly the current minister of education is saying that he did not know that that the photo of Said was in the school courses in the first place. 

This week we knew that the photo of Khaled Said will be removed from school courses next year.
Someone is annoyed by the photo that made it to Berlin Wall and its symbolism , someone does not want the students to  know that young man and the role in changing the course of the Arab nation whether that one likes or not.
From couple of weeks ago minister of foreign affairs Nabil Fahmy stood in front the United National General Assembly speaking over and over about January 25 revolution just like all other officials in the current Egyptian administration are chanting about that glorious revolution while back home the media whether stated owned or privately owned are systematically attacking it and trying to erase it !!
Hypocrisy as it appears.
Anyhow one thing the Egyptians have excelled in doing from 3000 years B.C , it is to change history from time to time according to the ruler’s own status of mood still truth always prevails in the end. Hopefully soon enough contrary to all odds and hopes of deep and not deep states , this is habit will stop and history of Egypt will be recorded as it is , as it should.

Back To Back : #KhaledSaid trial

Earlier today what happened in Khaled Said trial was extremely symbolic for what it is happening now. You got those convicted of his murder , the two policemen who are standing a retrial are smiling in the cage while those few protesters chanting against the ministry of interior and its brutality beaten and detained for a couple of hours before they were let go.

Today the protesters say that the police was attacking as if it had some sort of vendetta with them.An officer told one of the protesters that they had played for 3 years now and it was time to return back to study.
The majority of the people care less now about the trial.
I am not pessimistic, but this is just back to back.Anyhow it is like we are returning back to the starting point. No problem in that at all supposedly that people learned from their mistakes.

Mosireen Presents Prayer of Fear

This is one of the latest productions by Mosireen Citizen journalism collective : Prayer of Fear. It is a must watch clip.

Prayer of Fear is a poem by writer Mahmoud Ezzat in Arabic. Its narrator is Mosireen member and activist Salma Said.

This poem recounts the feelings of many true January 25 revolutionaries and supporters. The fear and confusion they live in nowadays.

The video clip brings very sad memories for all the past clashes and massacres.

Despite that is being labeled as youth revolution , its youth are hunted by death and think about it day and night more than those elderly who do not want to give up their chairs and thrones or even to think that they are two steps away from the grave !!

In the past two years the true revolution youth went to the morgue and funerals as well protests to commemorate the fallen ones demanding some sort of what seemed to be impossible justice more than to plan and to build for the future of this country , of this nation.

This poem gives a little hint on how the true revolutionaries feel nowadays in Egypt and how they are waiting for a new hope.

Here is Ahram Arabi magazine’s cover for this week.
The magazine publishes the blacklists of the 25 January revolution and 30 June revolution enemies and members of the fifth column. The cover includes a group of photos for public figures; some of them are Muslim brotherhood supporters and some of them are not Muslim brotherhood supporters but rather democracy supporters.

Among the photos and the names featured in that blacklist : Mohamed ElBaradei “yeah ElBaradei is from the enemies of the revolution !!” , Amr Hamzawy , columnist Balel Fadl and singer Hamza Namira !!
I have not read the rest of the names as it seems that it has not been published online yet but you can say it is a mix between the Islamists and Pro-Democracy faces in Egypt including the faces that criticized publicly the policies of the current regime. ElBaradei’s resignation because of the use of force in dispersing the Raba’a and Nahdaa sit it , Hamzawy’s criticism to the dispersal as well the McCarthyism in Egypt and Balel Fadl’s recent firing op-eds in Al Shorouk warning from any future dictatorship “Here is a translated example for one of his latest op-eds” earned them a spot in the blacklist !!
They even included Mohamed Abu Tarika because he supports the Muslim brotherhood !!
The state-owned magazine publishes a blacklist for public figures as fifth column and as enemies for the revolutions of January and June. This means something for sure if you connect the dots to that campaign working perfectly in the media to defame 25 January revolution.
There is even an active hashtag on twitter called “Fifth_Column” in Arabic where people share the names of those agents sabotaging Egypt and its army from public figures and human rights activists.
The list of the fifth column that works against the nation and the army for the sake of the Muslim brotherhood and United State include the following : Mohamed ElBaradei , Amr Hamzawy , Reem Magued, Yosri Fouda , Wael Ghonim , Mahmoud Saad “He returned back to air recently on the same channel” , Mona Seif, Alaa Seif , April 6 Youth movement members , Israa Adel Fatah , Wael Abbas , Asmaa Mahfouz and revolutionary socialists. These are the primary 25 January suspects in Egypt.
According to the people who are keeping this hashtag active , the fifth column agent is anyone who dares to speak about his rejection to human rights abuse and state of emergency as well to that “War against terrorism” rhetoric and military trials and above them military/police state !! Of course in their view all these points mean that you are against the army thus you are a fifth column that wants to bring the Egyptian state down after the fall of Syria and Iraq.
Ironically most of these names “except Wael Abbas” supported the 30 June and called for it.
In short these names are those who supported the original 25 January revolution and stood against the violations of SCAF. Of course there are other similar hash tags now on twitter like “The January Setback” as people buy more of the conspiracy talk.
Sadly enough this McCarthyism flourishing in Egypt is forcing to people to rethink their positions and even fear to express their opinions freely online or offline as before for fear of the backlash.
Reem Mageud’s TV show is stopped on ONTV for no apparent reason , of course I can not imagine someone like her appearing in the channel now. Wael Ghonim does not update Kolena Khaled Said Facebook page , in fact he does not update his own Facebook page for God sake !!
All this makes the youth that believes in the revolution disappointed and desperate , their voices are not heard because the people will attack anyone who say anything different. Some young people I know unfortunately believe that the deep state of Mubarak has won and there is no other option except to leave the country.
Of course it is a long road but you can not blame them when all the media whether TV or radio or press or even social media is full of Ultra-nationalism,McCarthyism and old ugly faces from Mubarak’s era returning back. People are affected by this extensive propaganda.
It is a long road but you not blame them because they are now trapped between two hells with no third road to escape , with no hope , with no true leadership that can inspire and unit them once again. They want to revive their hope once again.
ElBaradei has left Egypt and is back to the blacklist of the State owned media after being the Vice president of Egypt. Unfortunately that old man was the one that used to give young people hope for true change.
We need a new hope.

First They Came For The … "Updated"

Do you remember when I told you that there were not so good news on Thursday other than the bomb targeting the minister of interior and the arrest of Sinai journalist Ahmed Abu Daraa ??
Well the other bad news is the arrest of leading Revolutionary Socialists member and labour rights lawyer Haitham Mohamadein on Thursday afternoon in Suez. According to tweep Gharib , he was forced to leave the bus he was taking at a police checkpoint because he is a bearded man at first.

After inspection , he was detained because they found with him so-called political pamphlets aka “The Socialist” Newspaper !! It is worth to mention that according to law , lawyers can not be inspected except by a permission from the prosecution.
Mohamadein was in Suez in order to solve some labor problem in some steel factory. Later the lawyers and activists in Suez said that Mohamadein was being accused of belonging to a secret organization aka the Revolutionary Socialists.
Today Haitham Mohameden was interrogated by a district attorney in Suez who revealed to Mohamadein and his  lawyers that the socialist lawyer was being interrogated by a state security court !!!!!! Yes it seems that Mohamadein is facing a state security trial !!

Here are the accusations Mohamadein are facing :

• Founding and managing the secret organization of the Revolutionary socialists which incites to empower a particular social class over the whole of society and subvert the social systems of the states. “Its headquarter is well known in Giza and its members are also well known. ”
• Having pamphlets that incite violence. “Their statements and their newspapers.”
• Attempting to overthrow the government through terrorist acts committed through Revolutionary socialists.
• Attempting to occupy governmental institutions.
• Attempting to destroy the state’s properties in order to harm the national security.

Yup we are in 2013 and this is what political activists and labor activists are accused of after June 30 Revolution to end political dictatorship. By the way Mohamadein , a hardcore socialist who was against the Muslim brotherhood was asked if he were a Muslim brotherhood member. 
Updated : Haitham Mohamadein is released on bail , the charges have not been dropped though. 
Yes the Pro-Military Facebook pages and twitter accounts are claiming that the Revolutionary socialists are just another secret branch of the Muslim brotherhood !!!
You must know that there are educated people who believe this crap.
You also must know that the Revolutionary socialists used to collect Tamaroud petitions for God sake. 
Yesterday Army officers on twitter claimed that he had a fight with an army officer for refusing to let the army checkpoint to inspect his car and insulted him !! FYI Haitham Mohamadein is extremely polite person and does not get in to fights in general.
Ironically the tale of the twitter Army officers contradicts with the facts I mentioned above and enforced by the official legal reports in the police station not to mention Haitham Mohamadein does not own a car in the first place.
Anyhow some people online are buying the army officers’ tale including friends because activists are bad and Haitham is from the useless revolutionary socialists as they say. Yes some people got a huge problem with the revolutionary socialists.
Some people want Haitham and other revolutionary socialists to be sent to jail because  they do not like them and because they are socialists.
Unlike those people from twitter activists , Haitham is from the real activists that truly work on the ground with the true Egyptian working class from farmers and workers regardless of their ideologies and regardless of what you think about him. 
Some believe that Haitham Mohamadein was being targeted after appearing Al Jazeera Mubshar Misr earlier Thursday in a recorded video where he criticized General Abdel Fatah and described him as the leader of the counter of revolution.
Of course some also believe that Mohamadein should be sent right away to jail for this and for defending the detainees who were arrested following Rabaa sit in dispersal.
Today the revolutionary socialists and other activists as well protesters had a small protest at the Supreme court in Cairo and they had to move it to the small staircase of journalists syndication after they were attacked by honorable citizens who called them traitors !!
Yes political activists and protesters in Egypt are back to the staircase of journalists syndicate after rocking Tahrir square.
By the way yesterday the security forces arrested a man that makes Yellow T-Shirts with Rabaa’s logo and today the security forces announced that they arrested a dozen MB members and confiscated a laptop. They found anti-El Sisi songs on that laptop.
Today also I found that the prosecutor general has ordered the state security prosecution to investigate a bunch of public and political figures “mostly from the Pro 25 January revolution icons and activists like Wael Ghonim, Amr Hamzawy , Nawara Negm , Wael Abbas, Ahmed Maher , Wael Nawara and Ghada Shabander ” for US direct funding based on deliberate mistranslated Wikileaks cables.
The original Wikileaks cables speak about tea parties and talks between the embassy officials with those figures but Egyptian News websites are speaking about direct funding !!
Ironically the Tamaroud Nasserite boys told the German minister of foreign affairs that they did what Germany should had done from stopping the Nazism , well I am afraid they do not realize that we are on the verge of having another Nazism. “Of course they do not mind as long as Nasser is back in a new reincarnation. Damn Nasser did not allow political or expression’s freedom except cheap nationalism and presidential cult to flourish that led to a defeat in 1967. This is what the Nasserites actually want.”

#Egypt : The New Roadmap of the #June30 Coup on popular Demand

And here is the new roadmap proposed by the army sans Morsi after a very  long day. Yes the army ousted Morsi. Yes it is a coup according to all international and political science standards but it is a coup on the popular demand. The millions were asking for it in our streets for the past 4 days. I heard by own ears from the protesters. This is what the people want and they are happy with it.

Here is the roadmap :

• The head of the Constitutional court Adly Mansour is the interim president.
• The constitution is suspended and new amendments committee is formed “So we will not have a new constitution”
• A National unity technocrat cabinet. “Rumors that ElBaradei will head it”
• A code of ethics in the media will be declared
• The Constitutional court will pass the parliamentary elections in order to have a new house of representatives
• The interim president will have the right to issue constitutional declaration
• A National reconciliation committee “Will the MB be part of it like the Mubarak regime members who are coming back again ?”
• To empower youth .. bla bla bla 

This roadmap actually is the result of several roadmaps proposed by different political parties and movements including Tamaroud and April 6 Youth as well Al Nour Party.

Of course this roadmap was announced after hours of talks with political and religious figures. Among the political figures that attended the meeting with the army and reached to that map : Mohamed ElBaradei , Tamourd’s Mohamed Abdel Aziz and Mahmoud Badr and Sakina Fouad. Interestingly there were members from Al Nour party in the meeting. Now we know that Al Nour party will be there. Already also part of the roadmap was proposed for months by Al Nour. Politically speaking Al Nour party may lose a lot of its supporters due to this move. In fact it had lost some of its base.

There were religious figures too as well. The Pope of the Orthodox Church and the Sheikh of Al Azhar were there to represent the Egyptian people.

These people appeared in El Sisi’s video and some of them addressed the public and the world like ElBaradei and the religious figures of Egypt to send one message : It is not a military coup.

The army knows the international back lash and thus they needed someone like ElBaradei to speak to the world. Personally I believe ElBaradei is gambling and if he fails in achieving a true democratic reform in Egypt then I am afraid he will be remembered as some one who joined a coup against elected president. I know Dr. ElBaradei’s intentions and actually many January 25 revolutionaries are happy that he appeared in the picture and stated that what happened on June 30 is a continuation for 25 January revolution and its goals seeking social media ,

By the way the army and national TV are airing speeches of those public figures.

Now Morsi is ousted , he became a second ex-president of Egypt. Morsi has also addressed a message to the people.I do not know from where but he is asking the people to refuse the coup

On the other hand the Islamist TV channels including Misr 25 , Al Hafez and Al Nas have been closed suddenly. There are conflicting reports about why they were closed. Nevertheless it is a bad message to close the TV channels, it sends a bad message to the world especially the world sees that you have got a coup.

Clashes erupted between security forces and Morsi’s supporters in Minya , Assuit and Matrouh. Not less than 6 died in the clashes including 5 alone in Matrouh in clashes between tribes and the army. I saw this coming in Matrouh considering the Salafist trend and its strength there as well the spread of the arm thanks to Libya. 

I know there are lots of things taking place and I can not keep up so easily. I want to write something about the Muslim brotherhood as well about the coup on popular demand we are having in Egypt.

Day One After the #June30 Apocalypse : Back to Old Sleepless Daysin #Egypt 'Updated"

Things are developing so quickly today in Egypt after the huge protests we saw yesterday. First of I will start from yesterday.
Tamaroud campaign’s 30 June Front issued its first statement last night with the title “Revolution’s First Statement” and it announced that Mohamed Morsi is not longer the President of Egypt on behalf the 22 million citizens who signed Tamaroud petitions to withdraw confidence from him.
The statement gives an ultimate to Morsi to leave by 5 PM on 2 July Tuesday otherwise the revolutionary group will call the general assembly of the Egyptian people “This is the exact wording they used” to mobilize at Egypt’s public square and to start a civil disobedience. It also call the army and police to stand by the side of the public and on the other hand to the people to continue their sits in all over the country.
Tamaroud has not represented the petitions so far to the Supreme constitutional court.
The ministry of health of health announced the latest numbers today : The death toll increased to 1 all over the country and 781 injured all over the country. The clashes in Cairo, Assuit, Fayoum , Bani Sawif and Kafr El Sheik.
One was killed in Kafr El Sheikh ,Alexandria , Fayoum and Bani Sawif while 3 were killed in Assuit and 9 in Cairo including 8 at the MB HQ in MoktamHQ.
There are no MB members killed in yesterday events at Mb HQ. The MB HQ was set on fire and stormed by the people. I think I will have another separate post about it.
 There are news that 4 non MB ministers have decided to resign from the cabinet.
Today the Presidency will  hold a press conference at 5 PM and the Muslim brotherhood will hold another Press conference.
Still millions of Egyptians will wait another statement , the statement of the Egyptian armed forces.
In those times , I think the best thing to do is to have a storify story as it will be a very long night.
Tamaroud will also hold another presser tonight.

The Armed forces have issued a statement aired on Egyptian National TV and other channels. The statement was also published on its Facebook page.

The armed forces have issued a statement from short time ago. It is very strong statement and it says one thing  :
The armed forces are giving 48 hours to all political powers to reach for a reconciliation to end the current crisis otherwise it will announce a political roadmap for Egypt 
In other words either we will have an early presidential elections or we will have a very soft military coup on popular demand.
You must know the people in Tahrir square and the Presidential Palace are extremely happy with that announcement. Some political forces , from the civilian forces like Tamaroud are welcoming that statement.
On the other hand the the Islamists specifically from the Muslim brotherhood are extremely worried and some of them of angry as they considered it as a coup.
It is actually a soft coup still no one has made us reach to this soft coup except the Muslim brotherhood

Ok the Presidency announced that it has adjourned its presser tomorrow adding that Morsi is discussing with his advisers the latest developments. In other words Morsi and presidency do not know what to say after the army's statement.
Lots of statements have been  issues so far in those hours. Most of the non Islamist Political forces and parties welcome the statement .
The ministry of interior has issued a statement announcing its full support to the armed forces officially in its official Facebook page.

This was not the last most interesting official statement we had because the army did it once again. Armed forces spokesperson issued a statement to clarify the other statement issued earlier and the whole world read it as an annoucnment of coup. 
According to Col. Ahmed Ali´s statement the doctrines of Egyptian army do not include military coup and that the Egyptian army went to the streets in 1977 , 1987 and 2011 and did not lead a coup. The statement insists the armed forces do not want to be involved in politics and wants to reach to a reconciliation.
Now there are celebrations in Egyptian street like the celebrations we had on February 11,2011 !!!! Yes People are flying over the moon with the army's first statement.
Of course the MB does not celebrate it. In fact Mohamed El Beltagy has said in Raba'a Adawaya that it would be over the their dead bodies if army did it.

#June30 : Apocalypse Now "Live Updated"

And the big day is here.
Since early morning Cairo has become a ghost town , a real ghost town. Empty streets and empty traffic are unsusal in the big crowded city on Sunday's morning. It is like the calmness before the storm indeed. In fact it is the clamness before the storm.
It is expected that the action won't really start except afternoon when the rallies and protests start at 4 PM. Already all people know that in a mid summer day , the protests and rallies will attract more people at night. Nevertheless there are increasing number of protesters in Tahrir square and some governorates have started early like Alexandria, Mahalla, Mounfia and Port Said. 
Companies have either closed their doors or downsized the employees on Sunday especially the ladies. Ladies employees are told to go home. Few restaurants in Cairo are providing delivery services.
The Cairo Alexandria railway has been cut by angry protesters yet the railways services are working in the rest of the country. The Metro stations and lines are working fine too.

#Mothers Against #Morsi

Yesterday before we had two opposite protests and symbolic suicide , there was a small protest yet true significant one. Mothers of martyrs seeking justice protested in front of Mohamed Morsi’s house in New Cairo.
The mothers of the martyrs whom Morsi promised to bring the rights of their children that had been killed during the early days of the 25 January revolution or through the following two years. Among the famous mothers,  the mother of Ramy El Sharkawy who was killed during the Cabinet HQ clashes in December 2011 , the widow of Sheikh Emad Effat who was killed during the same clashes as well the sister of Khaled Said Zohara.

It is worth to mention that there are new mothers joined those mothers , those new mothers are the mothers of the young protesters killed during the first year of President Morsi’s rule like the mothers of Mohamed El Gendy and Jeika.

The president headed to the Friday’s prayer without meeting them.

Morsi promised to bring justice for those martyrs and he even claimed the new prosecutor general will present new evidence to incriminate those accused of killing them. We saw nothing. The police officers accused of killing the protesters are all acquitted. The commanders of SCAF are being honored by none other than Morsi. What is worse protesters are killed during Morsi’s rule and no one is held accountable !!
Morsi promised those mother and yet he did not fulfill his promise. The Muslim brotherhood is using those martyrs to justify its political moves against democracy in a cheap way. They do not even respect the martyrs of the MB.
Some believe that this is the true revolutionary sincere protest on Friday. I totally agree.

Today thousands of religious right wing supporters protesters for hours to show off their numbers and power in front of the army and the world especially the United States as well the Egyptian people.
At the same time we got few thousands at the ministry of defense begging the army and El Sisi to save the day. Those protesters from Mubarak/Military/Shafik loyalists carrying none other the martyrs posters including the poster of Dr. Alaa Abdel Hady, the young protester and Tahrir doctor volunteer who was killed during the clashes of cabinet HQ in 2011 between protesters and army forces unfortunately !!!!!!!!!
Afternoon there was some expressive protest at Kasr Al Nil Bridge which actually represents a very dark image of what is happening now in Cairo. A group of Pro-revolutionary protesters decided to commit symbolic suicide and threw themselves in to the Nile. It is a fake suicide ,more of symbolic political move.

#KhaledSaid : We are Khaled and They are all #Mubarak

Today was the anniversary of the incident that changed the Egyptian society , today Egyptian youth in different governorates commemorated the anniversary of Khaled Said’s murder.
The Young Alexandrian man whose brutal murder was like a wake up call for the Egyptian society months before 28 January. Just like in 2010 the people went in silent stands in squares and major squares holding banners to remind with Khaled as well other young men who are killed and tortured to death.

Khaled Said’s commemoration this year is called “We are all Khaled and they are all Mubarak”.

It is a brilliant name because this is what is happening now in Egypt.
There is no big difference now when it comes to Police brutality. The Mubarak legacy lives on.
Just yesterday another citizen was allegedly tortured till death in some police station in Cairo. A quick low to the human rights violations by the police force in time of President Morsi and you will wonder what kind of revolution we had in Egypt.
In the first 100 days of President Morsi’s rule , Al Nadeem Center published a report stating that more than 30 torture cases in the police stations by policemen where as 11 cases of torture till death were recorded. These were the first hundred days.
In January 2013 , the center documented 16 torture cases and 3 cases of kidnapping and torture of 3 political activists. Of course in January 4 political activists were tortured till death including Mohamed El Gendy May Allah bless his soul.
In March 2013 the center documented 41 torture cases in police stations as during the protests.
In April 2013 Al Nadeem center documented 51 tortures cases where the suspect are the police and the brotherhood. 24 fatalities were documented including 16 cases with firearms.
In May 2013 we got 74 cases of torture in police stations and prisons.
This is the tip of the ice berg , this is just one human rights center in Egypt.
Of course this is besides the big irony that up till now we can not get back the right of Khaled Said through the courts and law. Oh yes the court has accepted the appeal of Khaled’s murderers who were actually convicted of manslaughter. Not only the court accepted the appeal but it released them pending the case. They are now in their homes. 
The thing is that after 3 years from Khaled’s murder and after 2 years of a revolution that started originally as a protest against Police brutality , people are still dying because of torture in Egypt.
It is good to remind the people in Egypt with the brutality of the Mubarak’s regime and his police state especially there is some sick nostalgia for some to these days.“ You know Mubarak kept the Islamists in chains behind bars feeling you read in the comments in Egyptian social Media”
Parties like Constitution Party and Strong Egypt Party called their members and the public to participate in the stand. The revolutionary socialists and Popular current also participated along other revolutionary movements.
It is a déjà vu but we got new comers from parties joining Khalid's stand, black clothes and protests at security directorates and squares in cities like Alexandria, Cairo, Ismailia, Damietta and Assuit.

Khaled’s photo was not alone as he had a big company of martyrs who left us in the past two years. Just like Khaled , we failed to restore back their rights.

The family of late army solider Mokhtar Essam Mokhtar who went missing near the borders and was found dead  in the desert , killed to be accurate was also there trying to find justice for their son. 
What we wanted in this revolution , the state of law and torture is not part of the law. Of course I will not fool myself , I know that we will reach to this state of law when there is a political will for this. The 25 January will achieve one of its true goals when the ruling regime abandons the police state mentality and the police force becomes the servant of the public for real.
