And the Anti-Protest Law is issued !!

And Egyptian interim president Adly Mansour has issued the infamous Protest law today. Here is what I originally wrote about that protest law last month.
Amazingly I remember that deputy PM Ziad Bahaa El Din hinted out last month after his meeting with political parties that the law would be discussed in the new elected parliament but it turned to be an empty promise unfortunately. The Conservative/Deep State/Pro-Military/Pro-Police branch won after all.

Anyhow revolutionaries are not stopped by this law , actually they are breaking it next Tuesday as . The final voting on the draft constitution will be allegedly on Tuesday.

And millions waited for Bassem Youssef and his show “El Bernmag” tonight and their wait was in vain because CBC network decided to cancel his episode. After few hours , the channel announced that it was going to suspend the show.
You can imagine the uproar and anger this move created among the show’s loyal fans especially from revolutionaries.
The Pro-Mubarak/Military/ElSisi fans are happy and they can not deny where as the Muslim brotherhood/Islamist fans are reminding us on how there was more freedom of expression in time of Morsi. “Despite Bassem Youssef was being sued for insulting the president as well Blasphemy”
Several political and media figures including those supporting El-Sisi are against the decision of the channel.
Bassem Youssef is already in Abu Dhabi and his mobile phone  is closed. The CBC issued a statement about its decision. Here it is.

We were surprised with the media content delivered to us today in the show "al Bernmag" as it violated what was mentioned in CBC's last statement about the show.The violations show that the producer of the show and its presenter Dr. Bassem Youssef were not committed to the editorial policies of CBC channels. Being committed to CBC editorial policies was mentioned in the signed contract between us and the show producer. We drew the attention of the show's producer and its presenter after airing the last episode that they should be committed to what was issued in the channel's statement. In addition the producer did not present to the channel all the episodes of the previous season despite he received all the sums agreed in the contract and even asked for more sums in order to produce additional episodes ; the thing that is considered another violation to the contract. Thus CBC decided to suspend the show till all the technical and commercial problems are solved.

So Bassem Youssef’s show is suspended till further notice !!
Wow now CBC remembered that there were episodes from last season that were not presented by the producer !! I remember in one of the interviews Bassem Youssef stated that the CBC budget allocated to the show was not enough to produce such show in this way !!
I do not know how Bassem Youssef and his producer are going to work again with CBC next Week.
Well Monatesser El Zayat , the famous Islamist lawyer who is claiming to be Bassem Youssef’s lawyer “I am not sure about this” said on Al Nahar channel TV that Youssef’s contract with CBC stated that there were no restrictions what so ever on the show or its content.
According to Big Pharaoh who attended the show’s shooting last Wednesday , Bassem did not speak about about El Sisi but he rather spoke about the media reaction in Egypt about his season premiere as well Al Jazeera Channel’s media bias. Big Pharaoh also added that in the third part of the episode Bassem slammed CBC for their disgraceful statement last week.

Screenwriter Khaled Diab said on his twitter account that sources in CBC told him that CBC board decided to suspend Bassem Youssef’s show three days ago in order to avoid any future mocking or criticism of El Sisi.
For the record Bassem Youssef mocked CBC and its hosts in his season 2 premiere from a year ago on its screen. 
The reactions have not stopped up till now. #BassemYoussef and his show as well #El Sisi  are trending on twitter in Egypt now are according to Trends map.

Some journalists are quoting military sources that the army had nothing to do with suspending the show.
People are attacking CBC on its official Facebook. Also another group of angry viewers made a Facebook page calling the people to erase the channel from their receivers in solidarity with Bassem Youssef.
Our former vice President also commented about the suspension of the show.

The freedom of expression is the mother of all freedoms. If it is only limited to those who we agree with then it is an empty slogan. It is bravery to defend it and not to suppress it. Respect and appreciation to Bassem Youssef.

Of course people are attacking ElBaradei as usual claiming that he neglected all the problems of Egypt and cared only for a silly TV show. It is not about a silly TV show I am afraid but rather freedom of expression.
Thanks to CBC’s hypocrisy days before Morsi’s trial , the military will find themselves in a deep shit internationally. Already AP and Reuters have run stories in no time on how the world famous satirist was cancelled.
Now people are comparing on how there were more freedoms in time of Morsi  when there is none in time of the interim government aka in time of El-Sisi as now comparisons are being done in real time in social media. Now the world will see what happened in Egypt as a coup more and more , no PR company will help whitewashing your tarnished the interim government. The Muslim brotherhood internationally is thanking Mohamed El Amin and the CBC morons for this golden opportunity to prove that Morsi was much more welcoming to opposite views !!
I am already waiting for John Stewart and his two cents about his friend in Egypt.
It is enough that Reem Magued is absent and now Bassem Youssef’s show is cancelled this weekend , I wonder what will happen to Yosri Fouda when he returns to ONTV later this month !!

The Egyptian presidency says that it has nothing to do with the decision of the channel as it is an internal decision of CBC. 
Bassem Youssef's crew issued a statement and comparing to that scandalous statement of CBC , it is very reasonable.  
According to the statement that was published in the official Facebook page , the show's crew members were not notified that the channel suspended the show and they knew the news just like anyone else in Egypt from TV.

The statement also stressed that the show's production company "Qsoft" had abided to the agreements with CBC contrary what the channel claimed. Nevertheless the show's crew announced that it would not make any further statements to the media for fear it would harm "the company's position". 
Knowning the deep shit they made the CBC is trying to play nice now , its TV hosts issued a statement claiming that they were standing with Bassem !!

A Wedding and 4 Funerals : #AlWarraq tragedy

Blood on the Church's floor

Last night a wedding in a Church in the popular area of Al Warraq , Imbaba turned in to 4 funerals. Egyptians were attacked while attending a wedding ceremony at a Church in Al Warraq , Imbaba after two assailants opened their fire on the people standing outside the church late Sunday. The two assailants were on a motorcycle and fled away after opening their fire.

A Wedding that turned in to 4 funerals including the funerals of 8 years old and 12 years old girls carrying flowers , a wedding that turned in to 4 funerals including the funeral of the groom's mother. 

As it is a church in a popular area , the Virgin Church in Al Warraq is not secured and according to its bishop it has not been secured since the ousting of Morsi or after the attacks against the churches following 3 July.

Moments after the attack all the fingers were pointing to the Muslim brotherhood and co. as the attackers , they are the primary suspects that have been convicted by the crime that we have not known yet for real who did it or why.

Inside the Church from short time ago

All what we know that the Muslim brotherhood and their pro- radical Islamist allies radical rhetoric against the Christians and the Church played terrible and major role in the continuous attack against Churches. That rhetoric they refuse to give up , those actions they refuse to stop make them the primary suspect in highly polarized society.

The human rights activists are blaming the ministry of interior for its failure to protect the Christians , I can not blame them to be honest because since July 3 , 2013 and the government , the army and police have been warned over and over by human rights organizations that Christians would pay the price and were paying the price.

On the other hand since the attack all the Pro-military supporters as well the Pro-Mubarak supporters have gone in to a crusade against PM Beblawy demanding him to resign from his position along all his ministers. Ironically everybody knows that Beblawy is not real responsible for security in Egypt and that it is beyond his power. Security in Egypt is officially the responsibility of two men  : Abdel Fatah El Sisi and Mohamed Ibrahim. Be brave and speak about the responsibility of the ministry above the accountability responsible for the security of civilians aka the ministry of interior.

Anyhow unfortunately this is the first attack of its kind and sadly it will not be the last "despite I am praying that it would be" as long as there is no justice , no state of the law , no respect of human rights for all Egyptians regardless of their religion or color or race or class.

The 4 funerals will be held after two hours.

You Do not go to the streets after this law !!

Today Al Shorouk Newspaper published the draft protest law prepared by the government aka ministry of interior which is also being reviewed now by interim president Adly Mansour. According to the articles published in the newspaper protesting will be officially an impossible thing in Egypt.

Among the interesting articles : You have not only to notify the ministry of interior with not only the time and place but also the number of the protesters expected to come 24 prior to the protest. I do not know how anyone will be able to tell the expected number of protesters !!  The ministry of interior will then grant you the permission. Question : How anyone can predict the number of the protesters in any protest !!!
You also have to tell the ministry of interior the names of the organizers and their contacts as well the goals and demands of the protest.

 The million dollars question is : Will the ministry of interior allow a protest against itself ?
In another article the minister of interior and other ministry's officials can cancel the whole event if it violates the conditions and terms the ministry listed in the law.
Of course the draft law bans sits in. It also bans protests and sits in nearly vital governmental institutions except after 100 meters like Presidency palaces , governmental offices , ministries, embassies , governorates and courts !! Just go to the desert and protest there !!I think Tahrir square is off limits for real according to this law.
For the record the law states that there will be a space in every governorate allocated for protests !! 

From what we know there are voices inside the cabinet against the law , actually it is one and only voice : Dr. Ziad Bahaa El Din.


For the record Bahaa El Din allegedly warned the government of applying this law. Of course the social democrat politician can not stand against the deep state alone.
Anyhow outside the government there are some people who began to become vocal against the law.
Former presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Abu El Fotuh criticized it and attacked the current regime in Egypt because of it.

Did not know that the government had a political program or promises already.
MP Mostafa Al Nagar also condemned the new draft law in his official Facebook page today. 

"The current protest law with its current form looks like a bastard child from Mubarak and Muslim brotherhood regime to join the temporary detention farce in an attack on freedoms. We want a law that organizes protests and not to ban protest, we want a law that criminalizes the murder of the peaceful protester not to legalize it, we want to widen the space of freedoms and not to tighten it up.We will bring down any law that can not be implemented for its unrealistic nature. The authorities should learn from the past mistakes and to respect themselves as well not to increase their enemies with their increasing stupidity."

Even the Pro-Sisi Pro-Military trials Tamaroud group is against the law for God sake !!

On Twitter the Pro-Revolution tweeps launched a hashtag Arabic "I_refuse_the protesting_law"

Ironically a similar protest law was drafted by the minister of interior in time of Morsi and was completely rejected by almost everybody, I do not know where "everybody" is now especially the liberal and leftist forces and icons !! Was the whole issue with those silent now that it would be issued during the time of the Muslim brotherhood's rule and was not about the oppression !? I fear part of the answer is yes , big yes.

The Pro-Military/Pro-Police state supporters think that Egypt needs this law to save it from chaos , of course they do not understand the lesson that popular revolutions and uprisings can not be stopped by laws when their time come. They do not want to understand unfortunately that they are giving up their right and the rights of children , what if their military savior turns in to another Omar El Bashir !? They speak about countries like UK and USA without realizing that these are developed democratic countries already not a country struggle for real to put its first step towards democratic transition.

 I remember the days when all the Pro-Military Facebook pages and twitter accounts begging the people to go to the streets to protest on 30 June 2013. I remember Egypt's new idol Abdel Fatah El Sisi begging the people to go to the streets to mandate him and the army in order to fight the terrorism to the end of that talk. I do not know why protests were not that bad then !!

The stability of Egypt won't restored by banning sits in and protests but rather through true democratic civilian transition.

First They Came For The … "Updated"

Do you remember when I told you that there were not so good news on Thursday other than the bomb targeting the minister of interior and the arrest of Sinai journalist Ahmed Abu Daraa ??
Well the other bad news is the arrest of leading Revolutionary Socialists member and labour rights lawyer Haitham Mohamadein on Thursday afternoon in Suez. According to tweep Gharib , he was forced to leave the bus he was taking at a police checkpoint because he is a bearded man at first.

After inspection , he was detained because they found with him so-called political pamphlets aka “The Socialist” Newspaper !! It is worth to mention that according to law , lawyers can not be inspected except by a permission from the prosecution.
Mohamadein was in Suez in order to solve some labor problem in some steel factory. Later the lawyers and activists in Suez said that Mohamadein was being accused of belonging to a secret organization aka the Revolutionary Socialists.
Today Haitham Mohameden was interrogated by a district attorney in Suez who revealed to Mohamadein and his  lawyers that the socialist lawyer was being interrogated by a state security court !!!!!! Yes it seems that Mohamadein is facing a state security trial !!

Here are the accusations Mohamadein are facing :

• Founding and managing the secret organization of the Revolutionary socialists which incites to empower a particular social class over the whole of society and subvert the social systems of the states. “Its headquarter is well known in Giza and its members are also well known. ”
• Having pamphlets that incite violence. “Their statements and their newspapers.”
• Attempting to overthrow the government through terrorist acts committed through Revolutionary socialists.
• Attempting to occupy governmental institutions.
• Attempting to destroy the state’s properties in order to harm the national security.

Yup we are in 2013 and this is what political activists and labor activists are accused of after June 30 Revolution to end political dictatorship. By the way Mohamadein , a hardcore socialist who was against the Muslim brotherhood was asked if he were a Muslim brotherhood member. 
Updated : Haitham Mohamadein is released on bail , the charges have not been dropped though. 
Yes the Pro-Military Facebook pages and twitter accounts are claiming that the Revolutionary socialists are just another secret branch of the Muslim brotherhood !!!
You must know that there are educated people who believe this crap.
You also must know that the Revolutionary socialists used to collect Tamaroud petitions for God sake. 
Yesterday Army officers on twitter claimed that he had a fight with an army officer for refusing to let the army checkpoint to inspect his car and insulted him !! FYI Haitham Mohamadein is extremely polite person and does not get in to fights in general.
Ironically the tale of the twitter Army officers contradicts with the facts I mentioned above and enforced by the official legal reports in the police station not to mention Haitham Mohamadein does not own a car in the first place.
Anyhow some people online are buying the army officers’ tale including friends because activists are bad and Haitham is from the useless revolutionary socialists as they say. Yes some people got a huge problem with the revolutionary socialists.
Some people want Haitham and other revolutionary socialists to be sent to jail because  they do not like them and because they are socialists.
Unlike those people from twitter activists , Haitham is from the real activists that truly work on the ground with the true Egyptian working class from farmers and workers regardless of their ideologies and regardless of what you think about him. 
Some believe that Haitham Mohamadein was being targeted after appearing Al Jazeera Mubshar Misr earlier Thursday in a recorded video where he criticized General Abdel Fatah and described him as the leader of the counter of revolution.
Of course some also believe that Mohamadein should be sent right away to jail for this and for defending the detainees who were arrested following Rabaa sit in dispersal.
Today the revolutionary socialists and other activists as well protesters had a small protest at the Supreme court in Cairo and they had to move it to the small staircase of journalists syndication after they were attacked by honorable citizens who called them traitors !!
Yes political activists and protesters in Egypt are back to the staircase of journalists syndicate after rocking Tahrir square.
By the way yesterday the security forces arrested a man that makes Yellow T-Shirts with Rabaa’s logo and today the security forces announced that they arrested a dozen MB members and confiscated a laptop. They found anti-El Sisi songs on that laptop.
Today also I found that the prosecutor general has ordered the state security prosecution to investigate a bunch of public and political figures “mostly from the Pro 25 January revolution icons and activists like Wael Ghonim, Amr Hamzawy , Nawara Negm , Wael Abbas, Ahmed Maher , Wael Nawara and Ghada Shabander ” for US direct funding based on deliberate mistranslated Wikileaks cables.
The original Wikileaks cables speak about tea parties and talks between the embassy officials with those figures but Egyptian News websites are speaking about direct funding !!
Ironically the Tamaroud Nasserite boys told the German minister of foreign affairs that they did what Germany should had done from stopping the Nazism , well I am afraid they do not realize that we are on the verge of having another Nazism. “Of course they do not mind as long as Nasser is back in a new reincarnation. Damn Nasser did not allow political or expression’s freedom except cheap nationalism and presidential cult to flourish that led to a defeat in 1967. This is what the Nasserites actually want.”

The 50 members Committee : Who is Who

I am getting tired from these Who is Who posts I am doing over and over nowadays !! Here is the list and Who is Who of the 50 members committee that is assigned by the presidency to revise the amendments of constitution 2012.
The constitution amendments were presented to the presidency last week by the 10 members committee made of Constitutional law experts. The 50 members committee should represent the society through a specific quota announced last month by the presidency.

Here is the list of names:

1. Kamal El Helbawy as a representative of Islamist current :The former leading member of the Muslim brotherhood is in the committee and this has to say something especially with what I hear from unconfirmed news from the backstage. El Helbawy who was one of the top figures of MB abroad and was from those responsible from spreading the teachings of the brotherhood internationally. He lived in London for decades.He resigned from the MB when the brotherhood announced that it would have a presidential candidate in 2012. It is worth to mention that his wife is still a member in the Sisterhood branch of the MB.
2. Bassam El Zarqa as a representative of Islamist current: The co-founder of Al Nour Party , El Zarqa was a member in the Constituent assembly of 2012.He was also an advisor to Morsi during this presidency. Bassam El Zarqa is the only representative of the Salafists in the committee, and this is making the Salafists extremely angry. The Salafists are here to defend the articles they planned proudly in constitution 2012.
3. Amr Moussa as a public figure : Amr Moussa is not only a public figure but he is the former leader of Conference party that is expected a role in the future. He is a member of the NSF. He was chosen as a member in the Constituent assembly in 2012 but later he left it.
4. Diaa Rashwan as a representative of journalists :  The current head of journalists syndicate and head of Ahram Center for Strategic studies. The Upper Egyptian researcher in Islamist groups affairs got Nationalist Nasserite Leftist tendencies. He is also close to the army , at least this is what was shown in the past three years. He was an advocate of marshal laws during SCAF time. Rashwan and journalists syndicate are angry that the 10 members committee ignored their suggestions in the Constitutional amendments.
5. Sameh Ashour as a representative of lawyers : The head of lawyers syndicate and the leader of Nasserite party. Well Ashour is not your typical revolutionary Nasserite as on January 27,2011 that ousting Mubarak was completely wrong. He is a member of the NSF by the way.
6. Major General Mohamed Maged El Din as a representative of armed forces : The current head of military prosecution. I think the army avoid sending Major General Mamdouh Shahin. It does not make difference in my view because in the end Maged El Din or Shahin will represent what the army wants in the constitution and from what I know from the amendments the army related articles are not touched.
7. Mahmoud Badr as a representative of Tamaroud movement : The well known co-founder of Tamaroud movement is a Nasserite.
8. Mohamed Abdel Aziz as a representative of Tamaroud Movement : Another well known co-founder of Tamaroud movement is a Nasserite and a member of the popular Current.
9. Ahmed Eid as a representative of The 30 June Front Youth Coalition : Another youth activist who is originally a member in the Constitution Party
10. Amr Salah as a representative of the 30 June Front Youth : A revolutionary youth activist who is also a member in the Constitution party.
11. Police General Ali Mohamed Abdel-Moula as a representative of ministry of interior.
12. Mervat El-Talawy as a National council for women representative : The former minister and ambassador is well known to everybody. By the way she was among the co-founders of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party.  I do not know if she is still a member or not.
13. Mohamed Salmawy as a representative of writers in Egypt : The famous writer is the head of Egypt’s Union writers. He is also a member in the Free Egyptians Party. Despite he believes in liberal economy , I heard he got nationalist Nasserite tendencies.
14. Khaled Youssef as a representative of artists in Egypt : The leftist Nasserite director and film writer is a member of the Egyptian Popular Current.
15. Sayed Hegab as The high council of culture representative : The famous leftist/Nationalist Poet once compared El Sissy to Nasser. Amazingly in 2011 he described January 25 revolution as bigger than Nasser.He is a member of popular current.
16. Mohamed Alba as a representative of artists in Egypt : The leftist artist is well known for his views against the military trials and SCAF.
17. Mona El Zulfakr as a representative of human rights activists : The current member of the human rights council. Mrs. Zulfakr is a board member of several corporations, in fact she is the CEO of EFG-Hermes. The famous cooperate lawyer is not the typical human rights advocate of the revolution to be honest , she is not Mona Seif or Huba Morafey but she played an important role when it came to family and women’s laws before the revolution of 25 January.
18. El Sayid El Badawy as a representative of liberals : The leader of Al Wafd Party represents liberals in Egypt in a big joke !! Everybody knows that El Badawy is more of a shadow party leader now who supports whoever rules !! The owner of a huge pharmaceutical company and Al Hayat TV network once said on TV that his party is not liberal. He is a member of the NSF.
19. Mohamed Aboul Ghar as a representative of liberals : Dr. Aboul Ghar was one of the founders of the National association of change before the revolution. He is the leader of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party which is more of social democrat than typical liberals. He is from the co-founder of the 9 March movement for Universities indenpendence.
20. Dr.Adel Galil Mostafa as a public figure : The University professor and political activist is a member in the National association of Change. He is also a co-founder of the 9 March movement for Universities indenpendence.
21. Gaber Nassar as a public figure : The professor of Constitutional law and former vice dean of law school in Cairo university was elected as the head of Cairo university.
22. Dr. Hoda El Sada as a public figure : Despite her name is not known publicly but Dr. Hoda El Sada is well known Egyptian and Arab feminist academic. I am amazed that I have not read about her before.
23. Azza Al Ashamawy as a representative of the National council for Motherhood and Children : Dr. Azza is the head of the counter human trafficking unit in the council.
24. Hussein Abdel Razek as a representative of leftists : Hussein Abdel Razek is the leader of Tagammou party. I am surprised for choosing him as representative for leftists now in Egypt when there are more active Leftist parties in Egypt like Socialist Popular Coalition Party. Just like Al Wafd Party , El Tagammou Party was a shadow opposition cartoonish party during Mubarak’s era especially in the last decade.
25. Mohamed Sami as a representative of Nationalists : As if there is no representation of nationalists and Nasserites so we have got the leader of Karma Party as a member in the committee !! Karma Party “which is founded by Hamdeen Sabbahi” is a member of the NSF.
26. Haggag Oddoul as a representative of Nubians : Haggag Oddoul , the famous Nubian writer and novelist is considered from the important advocates of Nubian lost rights in Egypt. Oddoul was among the names nominated by the Nubians themselves.I believe it is a good choice. He is a leftist. 
27. Mosad Abu Fagr as a representative of Sinai : The outspoken Sinai activist , blogger and writer is well known Leftist yet he is a founding member of Constitution Party in Sinai last time I checked. Au Fagr used to be critic to the military state in the past, I do no know about now. Nevertheless I can not get over his conspiracy theories about the United States and Palestinians.
28. Dr. Mohamed Ghonim as a public figure : Another respectful figure , Ghonim was among the founders of the National association of change that stood against Mubarak.He got some socialist tendencies. He is currently a member in the Popular Current
29. Dr.Magdy Yaccoub as a public figure : Sir Magdy Yaccoub , the true humble Egyptian surgeon icon. He is a very respectable and modest man.
30. Sheikh Shawky Allam as a representative of Al Azhar.
31. Sheikh Abdullah Mabrouk Al Naggar as representative of Al Azhar.
32. Sheikh Mohamed Abdel Salam as a representative of Al Azhar.
33. Bishop Paula as a representative of Coptic Church : Many Christian activists as well Christians rejected his nomination. I need a separate post to explain it.
34. Bishop Antonius Aziz Mina as a representative of Catholic Church.
35. Dr. Safwat El Baiady as a representative of Evangelical Church.
36. Hossam El-Massah  as a representative of the special needs people in Egypt.
37. Ahmed Mohamadan as a representative of the Supreme Council for Universities.

39. Mostafa Badran as a representative of students in Egypt : Badran won the elections of Egypt’s students unions after a very tough competition against the Muslim brotherhood. As far as I know he is politically independent.

41. Elhamy El-Zaiat as a chamber of tourism representative.
42. Mamdouh Hamda as a representatives of cooperatives.
43. Mohamed Abdel Kader as a representative of farmers.
44. Ahmed Khairy as a representatives of farmers.
45. Gebali El-Maraghi as a representative of labor : Gebali El Maraghi’s name as a Pro-Muarak labor unionist was mentioned in the battle of the camel case.
46. Khairy Abdel Dayam as a representative of doctors : The head of doctors’ syndicate is not a Muslim brotherhood but he was backed by the brotherhood as far as I know.
47. Saad El Din El Halali as a public figure : The Islamist scholar is known for his unorthodox controversial views. Choosing him made many conservatives angry.
48. Dr. Amr El Shobaky as a public figure :The former MP and political sciences analyst and professor was a member of the Constituent assembly in 2012. He was accused of supporting the Muslim brotherhood then. Well now I think he is no longer supporting them.
49. Abla Mohie El-Din as an industrial chambers representative : The Benha university professor works as an advisor in the ministry of industry and commerce.
50. Osama Al Shawky as a representative for engineers.

In quick look , we got some how a domination for the Nasserites and Leftists and boy who can imagine that !! Of course there is huge overlapping between them because you can find Nasserite Leftist at the time “I know some socialists will be offended but it is true !!”. On the other hand you find you will find a Nasserite who rejects Leftism economy or Leftist who rejects military state. It is just crazy !!

Quick numbers :

• We got 5 women.
• We got 4 Christians.
• We got 1 Conference Party members.
• We got 3 Constitution party members. 
• We got  5 Popular current members
• We got at least 16 NSF members
• We got at least 1 Egyptian Social Democratic Party member
• We got 1 Salafist/ Al Nour party.
• We got 2 Political Islamists
• We got 5 Islamists in general “Including Al Azhar , El Helbawy and Basse Al Zaraqa”
• We got 4 members at least who were members in the previous constituent assembly.

Despite some say that the women should have got a bigger quota , I believe it is not by number as much as the end product itself. Hoda Sada seems to be an excellent choice along with Azza Al Ashamawy.
There is a huge change and we have got a Sinai representative and Nubia representative but no West desert tribes representative as ethnic groups. Also it may be silly but I do not understand why we do not have a single representative for Muslim Shiites when we have representatives for the main three Churches in Egypt. Of course there is not single representative for the Egyptian Jews !! I know it is cheesy but hell I had enough of speaking about the new era of liberalism in Egypt after the departure of Muslim brotherhood.
Good luck for those guys , hopefully they will learn from the previous constituent assembly’s mistakes. Personally I believe this will not be the end.

The #Friday After the arrests in #Egypt

Tomorrow Friday Islamist National coalition to support legitimacy or rather the Muslim brotherhood is organizing mass protests and rallies all over Egypt hoping that these protests will break the curfew and end it.

It is worth to mention that Egyptians respect the orders and do not break the curfews now unlike January and February 2011.

The coalition called the Friday of Martyrs.

There will be 28 rallies alone in Giza and Cairo besides the governorates.

I am somehow surprised that the Muslim brotherhood and the Islamists are organizing these rallies when there is a massive crackdown following the first and middle leaders of the brotherhood not only in Cairo but other governorates. The campaign also included those members responsible for mobilization and  protests.

We will be in front of a huge change tomorrow as the members are no longer waiting for the directives of their leaders according to the hierarchy of the brotherhood. The leaders are in detention now. Of course things now can go beyond the leaders who care less for the blood of the members. Now there is blood and blood always changes matters.

The MB members insist that they will stick to peacefulness but not most of them considering the anger of the young members especially from the Ultra-Qutbists who reject the idea of democracy altogether.We know our security forces too .. very well.

AFP journalist Haitham El Tabei was told by a Muslim brotherhood member that he did not receive new any new directives this week.

There is a strong rumor circulating online that the MB protesters may try to take over Tahrir square. “As rumor says Al Jazeera will transfer on air from there”

By the way not only the Muslim brotherhood supporters and their allies are going to protest alone tomorrow.

There are revolutionary youth who are going to protest against the release of Mubarak decided to protest at the Supreme court , downtown Cairo. Yesterday April 6 Youth Movement “Ahmed Maher’s movement” announced that they were going to protest at Supreme court but today things changed. 

The event was cancelled today as the movement that has been constantly accused of being a subsidiary of Muslim brotherhood wanted to distance itself from the brotherhood. Officially the movement does not want its protest to be used by the brotherhood.

From what I see online despite the April 6 youth movement’s decision to cancel the protest , it seems that there will be revolutionary youth who are going to protest either ways. They are accusing April 6 Youth of being coward and so on. Revolutionary Socialists announced that they will go on with the protest regardless of the attacks against them.

You must know there are some revolutionary youth who are extremely angry , really angry and they want to express it. They are fed up with everybody and Mubarak’s release was like the last straw. The revolutionary youth do not want Muslim brotherhood or military and I am afraid with all political powers and parties in Egypt ignoring them , they will find no other way except returning to the streets.

Returning to the streets now is a suicide when the public is not interested in anything except unfortunately in the so-called war on terrorism. It is like a deadlock.

Let’s pray that no one gets killed tomorrow.

Brave Mosa'ab El Shamy took over hundred photos from Rabaa sit in while it was dispersed on the bloody Wednesday . They are graphic and sad.

You must know that Mosa'ab El Shamy was detained and beaten by some vigilant checkpoint outside Rabaa. They stole his camera, but he was smart enough to hide his SD card in his sock. It was the smartest thing to do because if he did not do this , all those photos would be lost.

The orphaned Friday of Ramadan 2013 , exceptional more than usual

Today is known in Egypt as "The Orphaned Friday" ,the last Friday in Ramadan which Muslims celebrate by praying to God for prosperity, peace and happiness. It is the last Friday in the holy month before Eid. Of course this year no one can argue that it is the least Ramadanian Ramadan "It is like the least cheerful traditional Ramadan".
Now we are all concerned on what will happen today. The Muslim brotherhood and its supporters are going to have mass rallies across the country. Allegedly not less than 33 rallies are planned for the day in different governorates.
On the other hand the ministry of interior got the orders to disperse the sits in according to the law. We fear that there will be bloodshed today.

Fearing an Egyptian Waco

In April 1993 , the World watched how a disaster was taking place in Waco, Taxes. After nearly 51 days siege the ATF agent and FB dispersed the sit in at compound in Mount Carmel held by Branch Davidians sect killing 76 people inside the compound including the infamous cult leader David Koresh and ..28 children in a big fire.
The ATF believed that federal firearms law had been preached and the sect members had already a stock of firearms in their compound. Still there were women and children killed in the siege.
Till this day this is a controversy about Waco siege and there has been a debate since then about how the ATF dispersed the siege despite everybody knew that David Koresh was crazy cult leader who deserved to be sent to some mental asylum.
Now in 2013 we got two sits in Cairo and Giza and I fear that they will have the same fate of Waco sit in especially knowing that our police is not trained to disperse sit-ins peacefully or even sits in that are that big in residence areas where children as well people who are ready to die for their cause. “Some of these people are also armed according to different news reports including a report from The famous Robert Fisk himself”
I am not comparing the Davidians with the Muslim brotherhood supporters but I can not stop myself of drawing parallels between the sits in and the doomed end. Some Egyptians believe that we are going to have a Jonestown Massacre in Cairo and honestly I think that this is wrong comparison.
Yesterday the Egyptian cabinet ordered the ministry of interior to end the Pro-Morsi sit-ins in both Rabaa and Nahda square , of course in accordance with law and human rights.
Today the ministry of interior called the protesters in both sits in to leave quickly and to clear the sits in promising them a safe exist and full protection.
The ministry of interior in cooperation with the ministry of defense are inviting international media as well local media to see how the sits in will be dispersed. The ministry denied it later “Well of course , since when the MOI in Egypt is transparent”
The ministry of information also called the international media for a press conference tomorrow Friday.
Unfortunately considering the record of Egyptian security forces to disperse sit-ins and the fact that we got people ready for martyrdom in both sits in , I am not that optimistic. We are speaking a big sit in again with people ready to die including armed people and children with their mothers.
A sit in in the middle of a residence area. Neither our police nor our army is trained for this. The Tahrir sit-ins were not that complex. In fact in the past two areas, police and army used to disperse the Tahrir sit-ins when numbers were low. Already do you remember the massacre of Sudanese refugees' sit in

intervention that saves the day. I fear that the blood that is going to be spelled will be used cheaply in negotiations where as there will be a huge crack in the Egyptian society that won’t mended easily. 
The perceived image for those two sit-ins in the mainstream media in Egypt is we are dealing with armed sits in where some protesters are being held against their own will as well fear to be arrested. Both sits in are facing accusations of killing and torturing locals and residents from the neighborhoods.
There are Egyptians “and they are not a minority” thanks to the media believe that tanks should cleanse both sit-ins.
Personally I prefer the government to leave the sit-ins like July 2011 sit in in Tahrir square or even the Hezbollah supporters’ sit-in “2006-2007” that continued for months in the heart of Beirut paralyzing it and forcing the closures of shops and restaurants.
 Already I feel that the MB leadership is praying for another massacre to have power in the negotiations.
Already I do not know if we are going to reach for a political resettlement that allows us for a true political reconciliation according to the law if we have blood in the streets once again or not.
If nothing happens today in Rabaa or Al Nahda sit in then tomorrow we will have a series of MB rallies. I think the security forces may do start its move tomorrow’s night or Saturday.
A trusted informed source once told a friend of mine that we should wait the 24th and 25th of Ramadan , today it is the 23th of Ramadan. According to citizens in Nasr City area, CSF vehicles are parked all over the sit in.
Some Egyptian journalists are reporting that the police is starting to build a siege around the sit in and that no new comers will be allowed to join the sit in. They also say that food or water will not be allowed in to the sit in.
All sources say that the current regime does not want the sit in to continue more than that. It has been 33 days since its start and if it continues more than that , it seems that it will be troubling.
Anyhow as a Muslim I believe the last 10 nights in Ramadan are blessed , I hope that believers pray to God to protect Egypt and what I fear for real does not happen and the sit-ins end peacefully without a single blood.

And We Have Got a PM At Last !!

At last we have a PM in Egypt. Interim Adli Mansour  appointed Liberal prominent economist Hazem Al Beblawi after hard labor to get an interim prime minister.
Already I wonder why Al Nour Party reject Mohamed ElBaradei and Ziad Bahaa El Din as prime ministers Egyptian Social Democratic Party. The Salafists were requesting a non partisan figure. I do not understand the Shift in their opinion.

and accepted Dr. El Beblawi. He is liberal last time checked and like Bahaa El Din he is co-founder of the Egyptian social Democratic Party.
A quick look to the bio of the 1936 born liberal economist will make you wonder why Egypt did not hire him earlier as PM. Well from what the former minister in Essam Sharaf’s cabinet after 25 January revolution refused all the offers from Mubarak and his regime. It is worth to mention that the Freedom and Justice Party website is using an op-ed for him where he said that he would vote for Gamal Mubarak to prove that he is bad. Ironically and sadly enough no one bothered to read his 2010 Op-ed where he actually slammed Gamal Mubarak reaching to the conclusion that he would not vote for him.
Of course it is worth to mention that the MB leading figures including the former president himself had similar quotes praising Mubarak, his son and the NDP icons in the media.
Appointing El Beblawi was not the only thing Adly Mansour did today, aside from meetings with revolutionary youth political figures to discuss the Constitutional declaration , he appointed Mohamed ElBaradei his vice President for foreign affairs and democratic transition.
Mahmoud Badr of Tamaroud revealed that El Bob does not want to be a PM and preferred an economist to be the PM of Egypt now where as he would responsible for the political transition file.
Anyhow there is a new saga facing El Beblawi or rather Mansour to form a technocrat cabinet in Egypt.Mansour already got more powers than El Beblawi according to the new Constitutional declaration.
That Constitutional declaration has been rejected by several political groups like the NSF and Tamaroud. Supposedly it will be amended this week. We will see.
Now trivia time
The majority of Egyptians on Facebook got nothing to speak about except the old age of our new PM. There are jokes that the first thing Dr. El Beblawi will do in the cabinet is to revise the 1936 treat and that former PM Ganzoury considers him a reckless young. Another joke that is taking the social media by storm “The youth of 1919 revolution have got their chance in rule”
On the other hand some Egyptians , few began to discuss the man’s economic polices and thoughts. The Leftists consider him a neoliberal who will not have the social justice goal of the revolution in front of his eyes. Well I am afraid he has to put it in front of his eyes because if no social justice polices are adopted sooner we will have hunger revolution.

#Egypt : The Constitutional Declaration of #2013

The interim President Adly Mansour has issued a constitutional declaration made of 33 articles. The delcaration includes articles regarding the Freedoms ,the president , PM and the armed forces' powers as well the roadmap for the political transition.
The most important articles in this declaration that caught my attention are the following :

• Article “1” :

 The Arab Republic of Egypt is a democratic regime is based on citizenship. Islam is the official State religion. Arabic is its official language. The principles of Islamic Sharia of Sunni are the principle source of legislation !! “This article is for the Salafists’ eyes only , of course it is discriminatory against Shia”

• Article “22” :

A National defense council is founded and headed by the president “interim president”. It role is to discuss the security of the country,the budget of the armed forces. It has to be consulted in issuing military and armed forces law.

• Article “24” :

The President’s powers :

1. Legislation role after consulting the cabinet. The role is transferred to the House of representatives as soon as it is elected.
2. To issue the general state’s police as well the public budge and to supervise it
3. Representing the State inside and abroad, Signing international treaties and agreements after the approval of the Cabinet.
4. Appointing the Prime minister, his deputies, the ministers and dismissing them from their positions
5. Appointing the civilian, the military  employees and the political representatives according to the law
6. To declare war after the consulting SCAF and the approval of the National Defense council.
7. To pardon or mitigate punishment according to the law.
8. The other powers are being determined laws and bylaws. 

• Article “25” : 

The prime minister and cabinet’s powers :

1. To join the President in planning the general policies of the state and to supervise its implementation according to the laws and presidential decrees.
2. To coordinate and monitor the work of the ministries and their following general authorities and agencies.
3. To issue the executive and administrative decisions according to laws and bylaws.
4. To prepare the state budget.
5. To prepare the general state plan.
6. To get and grant loans according to the constitution.

• Article “27” :

The President declares state of emergency after the approval of the cabinet according to the law. The state of emergency is for 3 months and does not extend accept after the approval of the public through a referendum.

• Article “28” :

Experts committee is formed by a presidential decree within 15 days from issuing this declaration. The experts committee includes 2 members of the Supreme Constitutional court and its commissioners committee, two judges from judiciary, two judges from State council and four professors of the constitutional law from Egyptian universities. The high councils of the authorities , judiciary and universities mentioned in this article choose their representatives “Did not say how” The committee will propose its amendments for the suspended 2012 constitution within 30 days after its formation.

• Article “29” :

The Committee will show its amendments on another committee made up of 50 members. Those members represent all sects , groups and sectors of Egyptian society especially parties, intellectuals , labor,peasants, unionists , Al Azhar , Egyptian Churches, armed forces, police and public figures. The committee should include at least ten youth and women members “quota limitation”. Each party  and group mentioned should nominate its representative while the cabinet should nominate public figures !! “And how they are elected or approved” The committee will finish the final draft of the constitutional draft in 60 days maximum before it is released for public discussion.

• Article “30” :

The president shall put in to a referendum the draft amendments within 30 days of receiving from the committee.The amendments are effective as soon as they are approved. With in 15 days after approving the amendment , the President will call for a Parliamentary elections in a period that is not less than a month or more than two months. Within a week of holding the first session of the House of representative , a Presidential elections will be announced. The High elections commission will supervise the referendum accordingly.
Articles 28, 29 and 30 include the roadmap for the transitional period. I am tired to do the math honestly.
These are only the articles that caught my eyes , there are other articles other wel in the declaration dealing with freedoms.

#Republican_Guards HQ : This Was the Start “Updated”

And we woke up on a massacre that took place in the republican guards. It seems that at dawn clashes erupted between Morsi supporters and army as well police. There are lots of conflicting reports. The the Muslim brotherhood and its supporters of attacking the Republican headquarters with army while the MB from their side is accusing the Egyptian army of attacking the peaceful sit in.

This is not good on all levels. This can be a start of something similar to what happened in Algeria.
There are videos , photos as well testimonies from both sides.
There are some facts thought :
According to the ministry of health not less than 42 were killed and at least 322 have been injured. At least there are no children killed in the clashes.
There are no children killed in the attack according to the ministry of health unlike what the Muslim brotherhood is saying and claiming. Unfortunately they are using photos from children that were killed in Syria as children killed in the clashes.
We know also is that the army blocked certain roads and at the same time there are reports that the army withdrew from Salah Salem area.
A Fact : There are people who are killed , those are people in the end of day and Egyptians.
Another Fact : Many Egyptians do not believe the Muslim brotherhood due to their constant lies even those revolutionaries who tasted the bitterness of SCAF rule. Many Egyptians believe that the MB supporters were planning for a sinister thing and that they were there to provoke the army. “Why would they have a sit in at a military facility !?”I heard of this today. 
Important fact : There were not Egyptian reporters in the sit in because the reporters were treated badly and attacked in the MB sits in , I know two Egyptian photographers who were attacked for no reason. The Egyptian channels are biased of course against the MB , it is a not a surprise. It is better to seek the truth yourself. The Egyptian TV channels consider it a “War on terrorism” and “War on radicalism” with silly logos and 24/7 patriotic songs and lots of lies and rumors inciting incredible hate. Already if it were up to me I would close all the TV channels in Egypt temporarily till things calm down.
 Logic Fact : We need clear/unbiased/honest investigation to stand the truth .. not only in this incident if we are seeking democratic progressive Egypt.
Sad Fact : Ramadan is after two days.
The last fact we should know and understand Egypt that we have known and wish for is no longer exists. Egypt has been spilt and there is huge gap now. Egypt needs someone to mend this gap as soon as possible and unit it again. I do not think anyone from the names in the scenes politicians or commanders or spiritual leaders can do this.
Now there are lots of reactions taking place right now. The Egyptian army will hold a press conference sooner to reveal all facts. The Muslim brotherhood is going to do the same.
In no time Mohamed Badie issued a statement on his official Facebook Page , here its English translation by Andeel.

  Although the bitterness we all suffer, we are prepared to accept the faithful initiatives that call for restoring legitimacy in full manner, a president, a constitution and a parliament.after that the president will mange a general discussion between all the national powers where all the matters of disapproval will have discussed in order to achieve a patriotic pardon in favor of the national best interest to save the Egyptian blood and to out from the dark tunnel which we were forced into by the military coup that brought the country nearly to the very e edge of doom.

Al Nour Party has announced that it will not cooperate with the interim president and is withdrawing from the political life in Egypt.
Mohamed ElBaradei said what I wanted and demanded an investigation.

Violence begets violence and should be strongly condemned. Independent Investigation a must. Peaceful transition is only way .

 Egyptian Politician Amr Hamazawy demanded the same thing and condemned the attack on the protesters. Of course he is being attacked madly now.
The Interim Presidency has ordered an investigation.
The grand Emam of Al Azhar has ordered an investigation. He also demanded that the transitional period not to exceed 6 months.
Sheikh Ahmed El Tayeb also declared that he will go in to seclusion till the violence is over !! Amazingly Ramadan is two days away and it is the month of seclusion for committed Muslims !!
The army forces spokesperson will hold a press conference and he is going to show some videos
Now when it comes to the video , here is what the army showed on TV earlier this morning on Egyptian National TV.

There are more graphic videos surfacing.
The MB held a press conference that was actually a joke nevertheless what the reporters saw in the field hospital of Raba'a where the injured were transferred to was not a joke. In the end now reporters are asking themselves who opened the fire first. Already reporters knew that despite there were many peaceful protesters in the sit in , there were also armed protesters according to eye witnesses.
The MB has called the Egyptians to stand against the army. I hate to break the news but the Egyptians , the majority of the Egyptians are with the army.
By the way a side note the Congress is going to discuss what is happening in Egypt allegedly tody. 
Personally I believe both the Muslim brotherhood and Egyptian army have lost today in different ways. The Egyptian army has won the home front but lost the foreign front aka the West support while the Muslim brotherhood has lost the home front but won the foreign front. Amazingly this is what they want.
In the end two days and Egyptians will not think about anything except food and TV soap operas , the dead and injured will be nothing except numbers used in dirty political bargain in the backstage.

At 4.30 The army's deadline to the political powers or rather the Muslim brotherhood will be and it will force its own road map on everybody.
