Huge explosion hits Mansoura security directorate

Posted on 15:28 by Unknown
Huge explosion has hit Mansour late night from a short time ago. The explosion was heard all over the city and even rocked the houses.
The explosion was too strong that it affected all the buildings in the area for radius of 200 meters according to the eye witnesses. At least 3 are reportedly killed and 50 have been injured. The numbers can increase. I am praying that it would remain like that. Updated at 1:38 PM:  The MOH stated the death total increased to 13 and the injured increased to over 100. It is like a war scene now in Mansoura.
The right part of the security directorate was collapsed. In fact from the photos tweep Ahmed El Shabrawy there is huge destruction as it turned out that this area got lots of old buildings there.
This is the second time a bomb attack would target the security directorate there. It is the largest so far in Egypt.
No one has claimed responsibility so far.
Of course people on twitter sitting on their asses from their homes and even from outside Mansoura as well Egypt are spreading their own analysis who stood behind the attack ad why just one hour after it takes place.
Needless to say, the Muslim Brotherhood is the primary suspect especially some claim that the decision to freeze the assets of more than 100 NGOs in Egypt on Monday most Islamist NGOs is the reason why.
Some claim that the revolutionaries are behind this because they were exposed of receiving foreign money .. etc.
The Muslim Brotherhood supporters are claiming that businessman Naguib Sawiris is behind the blast with his so-called “Christian Militia”
Some say that it is a bombed car while other sitting on their asses copying pasting from each other claim that there were three bombs !!
Yes all this has been said on the Egyptian social media in less than two hours after the blast.
Of course seeing the amount of damage in Mansoura , I would say that this had been planned for in advance from more than a week for instance. It is not something you decide on the same day.
The Muslim Brotherhood is denouncing the attack and so on but no one is buying it. Now TV channels are calling for the complete execution of the MB.
To be honest I am thinking of Ansar Beit El Maqdus , the militant Salafist Jihadist group in Sinai. Already their operations reached to Cairo so I won’t be surprised that they are standing behind this attack.
May Allah bless the souls of those who were killed tonight and bring peace to the land of Egypt.
Another sad night , they are too many in the past months.

Remembering #OccupyCabinet Clashes

Posted on 08:18 by Unknown
And it is the second anniversary of the Occupy Cabinet clashes aka the Cabinet HQ clashes in 2011 and as usual there is no justice served at all when it comes to the victims. I do not know what to say except that this is one the milestones that exposed many people in Egypt.
Anyhow for the time being here is a storify report for the rally organized by revolutionary political powers in Egypt to commemorate the clashes and its victims.
The activists in the rally say that they did not take an authorization for the rally and so it can end badly.

#Hala’ib triangle in Photos : The City of Hala’ib

Posted on 03:38 by Unknown
Ok in this cold weather accompanied with a wave of depressing news from Egypt , one can find an escape as well in solace in photos from around the globe and from Egypt itself.
We are back to the Hala’ib triangle photo series. If you remember last month we stopped at the Camel market in Shalateen , well today we will head to the city of Hala’ib itself.
Here is a photo gallery showing the city of Hala’ib itself by Yasser El Rasoul

The city of Hala’ib is not as open as Shalateen , you have to get the permission of military intelligence to film and to photograph in the border disputed city. The city itself is extremely poor as you can see from the photos but the people do not complain from the lack of modernity or lack of infrastructure. When Resala sent a relief expedition there , they thought that they would hear tons of demands but what they heard actually was a simple demand to have a mosque !!
Only today I read the ministry of religious endowment will build new 4 mosques in the city. Of course I believe hospitals and schools as well other infrastructure. I think the government with simple few houses operated with solar energy in this environment won’t cost it huge sum considering the billions spent every year. We are speaking very small population that need true help to feel that they are truly recognized by the state.
From couple of weeks ago , I read a news that the government will start huge development and mining projects in the area. I hope that they are true and not just fake news to cheer up the public in Cairo

And It snowed in Egypt

Posted on 04:07 by Unknown
And it snowed in Egypt for the first time since decades and here we are not speaking about hail or snow in Sinai or Saint Catherine Mount. No we are speaking about snow in Cairo outskirts.

It is freezing right now. Almost raining from time to time. Alexa is not fooling around. It is extremely cold. The storms in Alexandria led the authorities to close the ports. It is extremely cold and one can imagine how the poor in shanty towns and street children. Sports centers and mosques as well churches should be opened for those but whom shall we address !??

Kodak Agfa Presents : At Al Azhar Park

Posted on 01:20 by Unknown
Last month I visited Al Azhar Park to attend a family birthday and of course it was an opportunity to take my camera and snap couple of shots at Cairo’s biggest park. I did not have a chance to go around and smell clean fresh air for too long but I had an opportunity some shots at night I think they are interesting.

I am very proud of this shot for Mohamed Ali Mosque at night considering I am very bad at taking night shots.

DSC06732
I am so proud that I posted it at Your Shot at National Geographic. Of course it is nothing compared to the stuff there but I feel that I am accomplished something and I should celebrate it.
Here is another shot I am proud of.
DSC06678
By the way I must record my admiration for the gift the Aga Khan IV gave to the people of Cairo.
Also you must visit the Bazaar at the restaurant building in the park where you can find beautiful handmade stuff in very good prices.

Surreal Photos and News From the Land of the pyramids

Posted on 13:32 by Unknown

We are living in surreal days in Egypt thus we have daily surreal photos and news. Today’s dose was extensive one considering all the action we had since early morning.

A Photo for the torched police vehicle at Nahdat Misr statue today by Mahmoud Khaled in today’s Cairo University protests.

A Photo for Tahrir square showered by tear gases by friend and talented photographer Mosa’ab El Shamy.

IMG_5385

A Photo from Talaat Harb street at once most expensive furniture department store Pontermoli where an officer fires something at the MB protesters and another citizen I presume to be an officer in plain clothes giving them the finger !!

The Media branch of our glorious human rights loving Ministry of interior Facebook Page presents its condolence to the United States , its embassy and the family of late Paul Walker for his tragic death !!

Ironically some guys on twitter who are now supporting the MOI are saying that this is actually a MB page claiming to be a MOI one. Well the MOI did not close this page which got now SMS service too !!

Youm 7 claimed that it interviewed Sharon Stone and the Hollywood star told Youm 7 that Al Jazeera is a US tool that implemented the wicked US plans against Arab regimes !!

This video was filmed last Tuesday at New Cairo police station where No 4 Military trials protesters were held all night long. A new revolutionary protester singing the famous Mohamed Monier song “An Egyptian Tale” to the CSF conscripts and officers. Please watch it till the end. My mom told me that there was hope after all in that video.

Egyptian Tale

A police officer shot 4 times a young teenager after some sort of car crash in the working class area of Amiriya tonight. Cars’ collision , the teenager and the officer got in to verbal fight then officer got his gun .. bang bang bang and the teenager was shot down. The teenager comes from a big influential family there , they wanted to kill the officer who escaped to the police station , they got the officer from the police station and beat the crap out of him. The police saved the police officer who is in coma now !!

The constitution is passed we will have a new president and constitution within 90 days. It is the constitution of the June 30 revolution according to the media.

Good luck and Good night.

A Day of Rage And Protests in Egypt's Universities

Posted on 02:44 by Unknown
Today Cairo university is having one of its protests and rage day. Student unions in different faculties in Cairo University campus are organizing protests, strikes and rallies in solidarity with late student Mohamed Reda who was killed during the clashes with security forces in Cairo University campus last Thursday.
Here is a quick living blogging from Campuses all over the country.

No Birdshot , No Ammunition , No One is Dead in #Cairo University “+18”

Posted on 11:21 by Unknown
Yesterday security forces opened its fire , its birdshot and its tear gas in the Campus of Cairo University in a scene I never thought I would see after January 25.
Al Masry TV : Clashes between protesters and security forces. The newspaper considered the protesters to be MB alone by the way.
Originally the protests erupted in several universities yesterday in solidarity of the 11 girls in Alexandria. They were not MB students protesting alone this time , there were students who are against the MB as well against military who had enough. It is not longer Muslim Brotherhood Students as some are trying to claim deceiving themselves before the public. Anyhow police forces came to disperse this protest especially that it started to head to Al Nahda square. Sooner the security forces began to fire teargas, bird shots and even live ammunition inside the campus itself as pictures and videos show.
The result of this !? A freshman called Mohamed Reda in the faculty of engineering was killed after being shot three times by live ammunition according to the forensic report issued last night officially.Reda was an A Student who is apolitical focusing on his study for God sake.
Here is a video showing late Mohamed Reda dying in the university.
The Martyr of the faculty of engineering
I think that he is the first student to die in campus of Cairo university in clashes with security forces if I am not mistaken.
His funeral was huge today.
There are other students in critical condition , there is a student who lost his eye.
Now the fall of the so-called Revolutionary minister of higher Hossam Eissa who is denying that there was birdshot fired by the security forces inside the campus despite. Just like former speaker of the Parliament , leading MB figure and leader of Freedom and Justice Party Saad El Katatany said that there were no MOI’s birdshot used against protesters , minister Eissa says that there was no birdshot used in campus but rather a type of bullets that only tickles !! Tickles my ass !!!!

A Car inside the Campus , this is birdshot
Dr. Eissa I feel very sad for you , extremely sad for you honestly.

Of course the ministry of interior is claiming that the MB protesters were using the birdshots. Already now the detained students arrested yesterday are being accused of shooting their colleague late Mohamed Reda.
Late Mohamed Reda
By the way legend says that young Hossam Eissa had a first incident with Gamal Abdel Nasser when he was a student in the university where he stood and criticized him in his face eloquently !!! I do not know if this is true or not but Eissa is well known Nasserite. What is sadly and ironically speaking about the fallen Alaa Abdel Fatah when he was summoned by prosecutor general in Morsi’s rule !!
revolutionary is that he defended
Things will not calm down in Cairo University next week. After all Mohamed Reda is the second student in the faculty of engineering in Cairo University.
Things actually won’t calm down in Universities especially whether in Cairo University or University of Alexandria or Ain Shams University or Al Azhar University.
The Cairo University student union already announced that it would suspend its activity till the dismissal of minister Hossam Eissa and to have a full transparent investigation about the clashes.
Cairo university’s faculty of engineering Student union announced yesterday that it would call for an open strike in the faculty starting from Sunday. The union also stated in a statement it issued that it called all the student unions of the other unions for a waiting on Friday at the engineers syndicate to discuss what they could do for an escalation. Again Reda is the second
Of course you got Al Azhar University and its Islamist students who got their detainees as well martyrs killed in the past clashes.
In Ain Shams University the faculty of engineering there , the famous faculty’s students union held a strike for a whole week in the midterms in solidarity of the detained students from the faculty regardless of their political affiliation. Despite they suspended their strike yesterday , I believe what happened in Cairo university will echo soon in Ain Shams.
By the way FYI the Students unions are not controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood, actually last elections during Morsi’s rule the Non Islamist Revolutionary Civilian movements and parties had a historical win against the Islamists as well the Ruling Party in general.

#FreeAlaa Hashtag is back once again

Posted on 15:58 by Unknown
This was a long day and I have just returned back home ready to write about what happened in the universities especially in my university Cairo university that lost one of its students today , I returned to read Manal Hassan saying that her husband Alaa Abdel Fatah was arrested from their house.
Police broke into our house arrested @alaa and beaten me. They stole both our laptops and both our mobiles.
— لا لدستور العسكر (@manal) November 28, 2013

blood stains in our bedroom where police have beaten @alaa اثار الدم في غرفة نومنا بعد ان ضربته الداخلية pic.twitter.com/DZZEKQwHz3
— لا لدستور العسكر (@manal) November 28, 2013
Not only he was arrested but Manal was physically assaulted by the police force. They also confiscated their mobile phones and laptops. Luckily their  son Khaled  was sleeping in another room.
There was an eye witness living in the same street who saw the arrest of Alaa . This time he was arrested by special forces !!  !!

قبضو على علاء عبد الفتاح قدام عينى 5 عربيات شرطه و اكتر من 40 عسكرى و كان غيه عمليات خاصة كل ده عشان واحد قال رأي على النت احااااااات

— GALAL RAAFAT (@GalalRaafat) November 28, 2013
Galal Raafat : They arrested Alaa Abdel Fatah in front of my eyes. 5 police vehicles and more than 40 soliders , all this these because someone said his opinion online
Already last Wednesday the public prosecutor ordered the arrest of Alaa Abdel Fatah and April 6 Youth founder Ahmed Maher for inciting the No for military trial protest on Tuesday.
By the way some say that Alaa was not officially notified and did not receive anything from the prosecutor’s office as he has to be informed. Already Alaa announced that he would hand himself over to the prosecutor’s office on Saturday in a statement published on Wednesday.
Post by Ahdaf Soueif.
Dr. Laila Soueif , his mother and long time activist has stated that they do not know where Alaa was taken to. Dr. Laila was in the morgue with the body of late Mohamed Reda , the Cairo University student shot today in Campus during the clashes between students and security forces.
Mona Seif , his sister confirmed that they managed to allocate him in some CSF camp.
Now personally I think there is a pre-made scenario concerning Alaa as in the past two week there was a campaign against him started with fake Mossad membership document leaked online “oh yes”  then you got the campaign against his views about Sheikh El Sharawy. It is not a big secret that Alaa does not respect the late Sheikh and he called him names on his twitter game. The media whether Press or TV took that tweet insulting El Sharawy and began attacking him specifically last week. So yes the media in Egypt is turning Alaa in to the bad Mossad atheist anarchic spy and people buy this.
Today by the way at about 6 PM the MOI sent an email to journalists with the tweet which called people to join the protest.
إيميل من وزارة الداخلية، الساعة 6 مساء بخصوص علاء عبد الفتاح pic.twitter.com/bnYNrNeerL
— Ahmed Ragab (@Ahmed_Ragab) November 28, 2013
Again the No for military trials campaign is the one that called for this protest before anyone.
This is not about a freaking unauthorized protest with my all due respect.
Now all the TV channels are attacking Alaa saying that he is working to bring down the Egyptian State.
By the way anyone is tweeting anything in English is attacked. Manal was attacked madly and systematically , I do not know if we are talking about group thinking or some sort organized action.
Alaa should return back to Manal and Khaled.

#NoMilTrials : To Protest or Not to Protest

Posted on 06:58 by Unknown
Today a group of protesters and  activists tried to defy the government and the ministry of interior by organizing another protest against both " The military trials for civilians in the Constitution" and "The protest law". The protest is organized by Thowar Front. "Revolutionaries Front"
Now the Ministry of interior is claiming that late Jika's father was the one who applied for a permit for this protest. Ironically no one from the activists asked for a permit in the first place and nobody can reach Mr. Salah Jaber, Jika's dad to confirm this.
The official statement of MOI says that some activists apply for the permit but did not say who these activists are. Ironically according to the law you should apply three days prior to the protest not only the same day.
Interestingly the MOI spokesperson refused to reveal to Daily News Egypt report Fady Ashraf the organizers that applied for permits.

MOI spokesman refused to disclose the names of the protest organisers

— Fady Ashraf (@fadyashraf21) November 27, 2013
Jika is believed to be killed by the MOI during Mohamed Morsi's rule. No one was held accounted for his death up till now.

#NoMilTrials : Back To Back !!

Posted on 10:41 by Unknown

And the peaceful protest of the No for Military trials Campaign against the bloody article in the Constitution was dispersed by force brutally in the first test for the ministry of interior and its Pro-Media.

What I see in front of me that we are not back to 11 February 2011 but we are back to 24 January 2011 if not to 2010 with the same lies in the media.

Here is a storfiy report for what happened since the start of the protests. You can see it after the break.

#Hala’ib Triangle in Photos : Camels Market in #Shalateen

Posted on 13:01 by Unknown
Here is the third part of the Hala’ib triangle in photos series. After the amazing photos of Shalateen port and the village of Abraq in Shalateen , this time it is about the famous Camels market in the city of Shalateen.
The Camels market is one of the most famous landmarks in the city. It is the biggest market for camels in Egypt. The camels come from Sudan in a long trip led by their herders. Their temporary stop is at that market in Shalateen waiting to be sold to the camel merchants that come from all over the country in a long trip.
Now this time the photo slide show is a mix of photos by photographer Yasser El Rasoul and famous Photo journalist/dear friend Hossam el-Hamalawy.

This is what I can imagine A Salvador Dali Ghost House will look like !!!

Posted on 15:33 by Unknown
And Cairo does not stop to surprise us !!
This villa is for sale in El Oboor area and its owner wants LE 4,200,000 according to Dubizzle. It got 12 bedrooms too.

This is a nightmarish version of some crazy Jumanji Ghost house designed by none other Salvador Dali !! WTH !!? Animals and one big eye seeing dinosaurs !? Who designed it for real !! What were the owner and the designer thinking.
By the way there are more expensive villas in Cairo than this villa.
I could not resist myself from posting this landmark of its own in a separate post.

The Curious Case of Sami Anan

Posted on 15:24 by Unknown
The name of former general Sami Anan is back again to the front after being absent for nearly year. Suddenly we are having a flood of his photos in the civilian suite in some strange Facebook page called “The popular campaign to demand General Sami Anan to run for the presidency” which appeared suddenly from no where last October 19, 2013.
Now the Page admins claim that some of them are ex-military while other some are from none other late Omar Suleiman’s presidential campaign and allegedly Ahmed Shafiq’s campaign. The Ahmed Shafiq’s official campaign denied that it was supporting the former general in the upcoming presidential race.
Anyhow It seems that the campaign has got telephone number at least their office .. in Qena according to the stencils on the buildings there. “They consider the stencils as graffiti”
That so-called popular campaign to convince the general to run for president page is full of personal photos taken for Anan in a civilian suit.

In his salon I think

Reading Al Ahram newspaper in his garden

Smiling to the camera
This is a personal photo-shoot session without doubt.
When I saw these photos , all what I thought about was how big a chief of staff’s salary was to have this luxurious villa or even Palace in New Cairo !? yeah I am bit naïve, but you know one of the misconceptions that the army officers are extremely rich living in compounds , well the average army officer or even average major general does not live in such palace or villa despite what is being said about the army’s economic empire.
Of course I can not neglect the fact that General Anan has dyed his hair to appear young or how that page is claiming that General Anan is the best presidential candidate to represent revolutionary youth !!! Oh yes to the end of that strange talk that makes you wonder if this is a parody page or what !!?
Needless to say the Social media users could not miss this opportunity and made fun of this photos turning them in to memes in less than 72 hours !!
Here is a collection of the photos published by Contemporary Art Page.

Now we got a special Tumblr blog “Electoral Alsh” and Facebook Pages with all General Anan’s memes like “Sami Anan’s campaign to teach Photoshop” and “ Sami Anan’s presidential campaign to teach Photoshop”
Of course some have started to ask how the case would be if it were Abdel Fatah El Sisi instead of Anan.
Well Meme makers in Egypt did not leave Egypt’s military savior alone in the past weeks especially with his famous quotes like “You are the light of my eyes” .. etc. Still it did not meet the same success after all Anan is from the few people all Egyptians whether revolutionaries , Pro-Islamists and Pro-Military agreed to hate and mock so far.
Yes it seems that Anan united a lot of people to hate him. The revolutionaries can not forget what happened during SCAF rule and how many people were killed during his rule.
The Pro-Military/Pro-Mubarak/Pro-Sisi Anti-Revolutionaries hate him because they believe that he sold the country to the Muslim brotherhood and the Americans not to mention that he turned against Mubarak. Ironically he was not alone in this, Abdel Fatah El Sisi.
The Muslim brotherhood and their supporters hate him because he is a military man.
The Pro-Military media began to attack the General madly too as well. It is not a big secret that it seems there is wrong between the current commandership of the army and Anan , at least this is the reaction you got not from the Pro-Military media only but also the Pro-Military Facebook pages and accounts of army officers and supported unofficially by the army.
When a military Facebook page like Egypt Military Pictures mocks the former chief of staff explicitly then this means something.

I do not understand for real that Sami Anan affair especially that hate relation between the army and its former chief of staff now. It started last September when suddenly we found Al Watan newspaper which is too close to all sort of security apparatuses in the country publishing what they claimed to be Anan’s memories about the 25 January revolution.
After releasing those memories in Al Watan , we found the official spokesperson of armed forces  Col. Ali went ballistic issuing a statement warning of publishing alleged memories of ex-military men in that critical time without the army’s permission was a dangerous thing to the end of that talk. We knew that he was speaking about none other than Anan.
Amazingly nobody has spoken directly to Anan from the media whether about his alleged memories or about that Presidential campaign.
Anyhow there is something I do not understand from the memories in Pro-Military Watan to that pathetic Facebook page to the silence of the man already.
Will Anan be the scapegoat of the military ?? Will He play a new role in the future ? Will he be the next Omar Suleiman in the presidential elections ??
Are we going to have a face off between Anan and Sisi in the Presidential elections ??
A trivial fact ousted President Morsi issued a presidential decree last August giving immunity to both Anan and Tantawy against accountability. The decree has not been cancelled yet.
In the end , here is a certificate from Sufi order published online about Sami Anan claiming that he is the great grandson of none other than Omar !! Oh yes Omar Ibn El Khatab !!

The certificate !!

Man if Omar saw Anan and his cronies !!

#Hala’ib triangle in Photos : The village of #Abraq by Yasser EL Rasoul

Posted on 12:46 by Unknown

And here is the second part of The Hala’ib triangle in photos series. I started it with a photo slide show from Shalateen Port. This time the slide show is from the small village of Abraq in Shalateen.

These amazing photos were taken by talented photographer Yasser El Rasoul.

Abraq is 130 kilometer away from city of Shalateen in the North West.

Its people are from the Beja people ethnic. The Beja people are from the oldest ethnic groups in North Africa , it is enough to know that they used to fight along with the ancient Egyptians. Yes sir they are so old and so unique.

Now the village of Abraq is extremely poor as you can see in the photo , its main water source is that water well bearing the village name in the slide show “it looks amazing”. It is not about living in nomadic environment , it is about zero supplies and utilities. The people of Arbaq work mainly in pasture but some of them go to the mounts searching for coal in order to trade it with food especially Wheat in Shalateen main market.

What I say in this post is based upon the testimonies of the young humanitarians that went there and saw what they were not prepared for.

Amazingly the people there are content and they do not ask for more. They also are not angry from the valley or from the State that it neglected them.

The Egyptian Food Bank and Resala helped the people of Abraq before , there are also independent youth mostly from Islamists organizing food and medical supplies caravans.
